Erm, I've only gone and done it again...
Meet my latest new (to me) bike: Giant Glory DH 2008/09 with 2010 Marzocchi 888 forks. Stats: 45.3lbs, 63.0deg head angle (very slack, chopper style), 200mm travel up front, 8.0" rear travel. An absolute weapon on a downhill track but will be a handful on anything else! It's seem some action hence isn't cosmetically perfect, but it's a DH bike and that's to be expected. Mechanically it's pretty spot on though.
Hoping to give it it's first outing this weekend at Fort William DH tracks (even though it's only the "red" DH that's open)...

Not the room in the photos - that's the kitchen. The garage was getting too crowded with bikes and wheels/tyres (now 8 bikes and 12 winter wheels/tyres between me and Mrs a11y) and since the house is too big, we moved rooms around and what was previously the dining room is now our bike room. Ideal for maintenance during the winter!
My tally is currently at 5 bikes:
1) Giant Glory DH
2) Lapierre Spicy 160mm travel full-susser
3) On-One 456 Summer Season hardtail
4) Gary Fisher Rig 29er Singlespeed
5) Cotic Roadrat commuter (but I don't count that!)
Some really nice bikes here. So here's my potted history. Got back from travelling in 2005, road my Giant to the train station, where it got nicked. I'd paid £50 for it from a friend and other than upgrading shifters and rear mech to Shimano Alivio, it was standard.
Didn't bother claiming through insurance, but went straight out and bought this as a replacement.
Had Deore everything, which was nice for branding harmony. After 2 years I got to the point where V-brakes and 60mm coil spring shocks weren't coping with the riding I was doing, so sold it on and bought one of these:
Not my own photo. First the seat and seat post were nicked from outside my flat, and then a few months later, having replaced both, the whole bike was nicked along with the D lock, the cable and the wall mounted anchor. A great bike and my first where I really got the benefit of lighter parts. I also went to Egg Beaters at this point.
The insurance payout came through and I was angling either toward another XTC or a Genesis iO iD, but the same friend who'd sold me the first Giant now had a Rockhopper Pro 2008 for sale, as usual ridden 3 times or something so I picked it up for a whisker over £400.

Three years on I've still got it, but I wanted to explore the Alfine hub thing having missed out on the Genesis iO iD. So I trawled eBay and came across this 10 miles away in Farnham.
It's a Mongoose Sabrosa Ocho and as the name suggests it's got an 8 speed Alfine hub. Surprisingly heavy really, but the gears are fantastic. Foolishly I lent it to my OH recently and she's now decided it's much better than her own bike and so she's getting it. Am now on the look out for a full suss to run alongside my Rockhopper.

I hace done alot of long distance biking. Latest being from Stonehenge to Switzerland. I was meant to go all the way to Rome but I damaged my Achilles heal and so had to stop. I used a Dawes Galaxy for that but the bike weighs too much for general road / track biking so got the one above for a good mix between the two. I have a set of slicks too for when I am doing just pure road cycling.
It is actually a cyclo-cross bike but the added strength, 2 brake positions allowing for better control when navigating rough terrain, drop downs and 32mm wheels allows me to do abit of tracks/paths as well as fly on the roads. More suitable for day rides than my Dawes.

It's a Lapierre X-Control 310, and one ride in I'm loving it. Almost as light as my hard tail, but obviously much better on the bumpy bits. I'm an XC rider, rather than an outright downhiller, so this suits me very well.
