Possibly time to move on .... thoughts please

I am currently weighing up my options, but am thinking that it might be time to sell my much loved and pampered zed and move on. I am just wondering what peoples thoughts are as to whether it is worth me selling it with the mods currently fitted or should I return zed to original spec and just move and sell them separately as I have all the parts and 108 alloys.

Currently my zed is fitted with 224 M sport alloys, Aero side skirts, MM exhaust tips, Stormworks ST1Gear Knob, gapTech RCH+ module, black gloss grills and red leather gaiters.

I would say you are looking at an easy £800+ of parts there so the question is how much extra will they get you on the car, and how much easier ill it be to sell with them on.

wheels and skirts are the biggy's
 
I think most potential buyers will love the wheels, so will make it easier to sell and could help the car make a small premium over a similar Zed on 108s.. The rest won't add a penny or help it sell. So ebay for those. My two peneth Swifty. :)
 
Thanks everyone it was what I was actually thinking, keep the 224's and remove the rest. The Aero skirts are new and only been fitted for a few months, so might be a bargain for someone with a silver grey zed. Guess I have got lots to think about still.

If you have the time to return your Zed to original spec and then go to the trouble of selling the parts, then why not, but I think, as Zerrmatt said - yours is one of the best looking and nicest 3.0si on the Forum so it will attract a premium price.

Standard 3.0si with your mileage are hard to come across anyway so it should be an easy sell.

Been looking at a number of different makes Paul which all require me to raid the old piggy bank, however I am not covinced that the smile will be any bigger than what I have at the moment, so tough decisions. The zed has just had an MOT and is still low mileage at 45k, with full BMW service history and a transferrable BMW extended comprehensive warranty and with summer upon us is the perfect time to sell it. Been looking at a 1 year old SLK 350 and a 3 year old SLK 55 which I rather like the sound of the V8 engine. Been down to the local Porsche dealer, seen a few 4 year old rather nice looking low mileage Caymans and Boxsters with the spec I am looking for, also looked at a 18 month Audi TT RS, all very different vehicles in looks and in the way they handle. Still love my zed so lots of things have to consider.
 
Car looks top drawer as is Nick so don't be afraid to set off with a figure you would be happy at , if you get it then 2 happy parties , if not then look to take the cream off & lower the ask
I suspect you still have the original 18s plus those winter 18s :wink: no trouble selling those i suspect
Like your Porsche picks but can't see the MB appeal :cry:

Good advice Andy and yes i have still got the refurbished 108s with nearly new RF tyres, and the winter CSL alloys. Porsche is giving me big smiles :) at the moment. Mixed feelings though about an E89 35is which was on my list, but not everyone's cup of tea though and they don't appear to hold their value the same either, a different beast to the e85 I know. Did think about going for an ///M but running costs and the fact that it would be my daily driver make it a non starter. Might end up just keeping my zed as it is perfect really and running so sweet.
 
Your car looks really good swiftly. I wouldn't sell it if was mine. If your in two minds about it why don't you wait a while enjoy the summer and then think about it then

Well you've got a nice choice of replacements there Nick.

My mate runs a 350 SLK with tiptronic and I think it's a lovely bit of kit - sounds great at high revs and I love the auto box (7 gears a bit much but it works fabulously on kick down) plus it has the hard roof.

Porsche seems the only other driver's choice? That Boxster of Jax's looks a premier piece of machinery and the Cayman is meant to be excellent.

If I were selling, I'd put the 108s on the car (assuming they're as nice as the rest of it looks above) and sell the 224s seperately - there's a much better/bigger market for 224s so should be worth more, plus I very much doubt it'll add any value if left on the car.
 
I think its an itch we all scratch eventually, do i sell the Z. I explored a M4 recently and tbh the drive was less engaging than my Z, so I'm staying put and keeping the money for other ventures.

I think u will get a newer car but it won't be the drive the Z was and it will become a bigger itch :headbang:

Porkers and the 55 will cost //M money to run. :wink:

The 108's were stripped and refurbed at the main dealers expense by an outside wheel company when I purchased the car along with a new set of RF tyres. The wheels were on for about 8 months and are almost as new, they are not curbed but I think there is one wee stone chip on one of the rear alloys.

If I start counting the number of itches I have had recently, I think I might have a flea infestation :rofl:
