Possibly fitting a splitter

Ive been looking into getting a splitter installed on my coupe, which I'd be quite comfortable doing myself, but the only issue is trying to decide which splitter to go for.

Obviously the ACS option is a bit steep in terms of price, so for under 200 quid I've been looking at either the Cupra R splitter option and modifying it slightly, or going for this one I've found on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Front-Bumper-Lip-Spoiler-Splitter-BMW-Z4-series-E85-E86-after-facelifting-/110813937975?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item19cd068137.

This one is based in Poland and would cost around 150 delivered :| . This is obviously 100 more than the Cupra splitter but it does seem to be designed solely for the facelift bumper on a Z which is an attractive option as it would mean I wouldn't have to make any alterations. Another idea I had was to have it wrapped in 3M carbon fibre film, and get the rear carbon fibre spoiler moustache thing installed ...... Would look good to have a bit of "carbon" at both ends

What are your thoughts, Cupra R, or Poland ?

IIRC Paza used the Seat splitter for his 3L coupe with great success. If you wait until he's back from the Alps, he'll be able to give you some advice... Or use the search to find his profile, then look for the thread

I like the ebay splitter, looks very nice.
And I like Paza's splitter, but which one is best? There's only one way to find out..........

Taken a look at the photos of his cupra splitter installation, looks very neat and tidy. Got off the phone to a vehicle wrapper who Said it would be a doddle to do it in carbon. But for Sake of being able to directly (fingers crossed!!!) fit the eBay one straight on I've gone ahead and ordered it. Will let you know how it looks as soon as its up and running.

Yep, ebay splitter looks good but for goodness sake please don't spoil your car with pretend carbon!

What colour is your car? I'm sure a plain black splitter would suit anything.

after all this time...finally got round to uploading a pic of the splitter. Also had some 3m Carbon Di-NOC Vinyl delivered to wrap it in - getting that done this friday at work by a colleague and then will aim to have it fitted by Saturday. :driving: Here are a couple of iPhone snaps...........

I like the look of it on ebay but the pictures of the delivered product aren't meeting my expectations? I think wrapping it would be essential to improve the look

Did any pictures surface with this fitted?

I am on the hunt for a splitter at the moment, I'd be really interested to see what this one looks like as well!

:worthless:

So, got bored and thought i'd take some initiative.

A while back me and a mate invested in the materials to make products out of Carbon fibre.
It's properly hard work, needs patience and you have to be selective with what you want replicated to CF.

But a splitter seems simple and using the design of a decent plastic one i'm going to make a mould and get cracking.

I don't mean skinning, I mean creating a CF splitter.

It's just the start but I will start a new thread when I do actually start and document progress.

I intend to create 2 styles. One that will give a look similar to the M bumper and then another is straight across.

Again, Ideas as i'd have to create several templates and amend accordingly but i'm excited.

I have a massive roll of decent CF lying about along with the moulding bits.

Shame I don't have the vacuum kit but i might invest in that.
