Been to see a zed today, 3.0 grey with red leather heated seats, was in good condition apart from front bumper and the drivers window mechanism. The garage is looking for £8k and wont really play on price they are willing to sort said issues. It has had 4 owners and has 61,000miles.

The question I have is, the service book has been lost bmw can confirm service till end of 2006 and it was sold by a main vw dealership in 2008 so the car has been serviced however no proof of how Meany and when the last service was done. Tbh this in not to much of an issue as I would have it serviced ASAP as I do with all new cars I buy what I wanted to know is would anyone else consider buying a car without service proof? And at £8k? As I said im not overly concerned but I don’t want to buy it then find out in a few years that I cant sell it. Any thoughts? it’s a 2003btw.

Cheers Guy's.

Are they going to sort the window (£200+ fitted) bumper (£???.oo) service it (£300++) ? If not It's too much with no history on file and any dealer not doing these jobs has done nothing else, does it need tyres soon etc etc. IMO I would find another, there are lots of well sorted and looked after cars out there.

If it were me I'd steer clear if the service history cant be confirmed!

But then I'm a real stickler for knowing a car's history, and keep as much detail as possible.

It seems cheap, but in my opinion not cheap enough to make up for the lack of history.

Again, if it were me, I'd keep looking, or spend another £1k or so to get a good example..

Yeah the dealer has agreed to do the jobs (window, bumper) and full mot, service and tax are up to me to cover. It looks as if it has been looked after but can only confirm bmw 2006 and vw 2008 after that then who knows. Tyres are all Handcook and have bout 60% life left.

It's not the one in Balieston Glasgow is it? Don't touch it with a bargepole. Timing chain is rattling like a good thing and its just not right. I walked away from it on Thursday.

While you have the money in your pocket you are in the driving seat.At this time of the year there are plenty of good, wellcared for z4 out there.
In a couple of months you will kick yourself for not being patient and waiting till the right one turns up.

imo it can be risky buy with 4+ years of missing service history...

And even it it was sold by a VW main dealer i woudlnt trust the service they gave it... most likey just an oil and filter change.... so potentially worse case it could have been running for 4 years with only an oil change :o

Walk away quick step from that car no history and 4 owners would put me off plus the probs its got not worth the risk as there are plenty of better Z4s out there as said above and this time of year they are going for a song just wait for the right car.

Remember these cars can be costly if you have to start replacing lots of parts
