Having decided to go back to having two cars rather than three we've placed a deposit on this 63 reg 2.0i DCT in Valencia Orange with plenty of the options ticked. Going to view at the Dealers on Saturday and if everything stacks up we'll be part exchanging the Mini and bring this beauty home with us.

Only downside is my pride and joy E85 3.0si which I'd always planned to keep will be going up for sale.

That's nice Gareth :) form a orderly queue for your E85 8) that is one of the nicest E85s on the forum no question

Thanks Mr Wilks  It will be a sad day when I part with it. Just deliberating whether to put it up for sale with all the modifications in place or to put back to standard and sell the bits separately.

Cheers Maniac. Seen a few VO Zed's at various Forum meets and it looks stunning in the metal. Photos don't do it justice IMO

Oh and the DCT is only available in 35i/35is so a 20i would be the normal ZF 8 speed autobox (which is still a market leading box).

Thanks for the clarification

Have to admit I'm not fully up to speed with the E89. It will come with a AUC Warranty but any potential issues I should be looking for when I go to view?

Not much in that model and year, check inside edges of alloys for cracks, all services and 'quality enhancements' done. Check rear lamps for water or condensation, check for water under boot floor where pump is.

Lovely looking car. Another thing to check, if it's a nice day, well not raining try the roof works without any errors. There is over 20 micro switches and you would hate to get home and find it throws a wobbly. It should be fine and usually one of the things the dealer likes to show working anyway.

As nice as that e89 looks, DON'T DO IT Gareth......Your 3.0si Roadster is a lovely looking, and rather rare combo/spec,always been a car that looks so good in the flesh, and one of the cars I always like to see

Hopefully you decide to keep it,and have both :D

Looks exactly like my e89. The 8 speed auto box is lovely, as said it's not DCT on the 20i but great all the same. Has it got Idrive? A must IMO.

The dealer has sent me a 'walkaround' video which shows the roof fully working.

Thanks for your comments Craig. It would be great to keep the E85 aswell but the idea is to get Julie a newer car and I get to keep a Zed for the weekends.

Have you driven the car yet ?

No not yet. Going to view on Saturday. Fully expecting it to be very different going from an E85 to E89 plus the 3.0 straight six to a 2.0 turbo but having gone back through old posts on here, there seems to be a few that have made the switch with no regrets

Took the car out for a test drive this morning, completed all the paperwork and drove it home. :driving:

Car is immaculate apart from some scratches on the passenger side rear view mirror glass which the Dealer hadn't spotted but has agreed to replace.

Interesting move - Metal Lickers orange E89 looks great so you've made a lovely choice.

Good luck with the sale of your 3.0si (though you won't need it  ) - a great example

Great choice and demonstrating perfect taste.

Might be a slightly biased opinion, but you will enjoy it.

Thanks Paul. Would have loved a 35i or 35is in the same colour but budget wouldn't stretch that far plus this one has a dual function as Julie's daily driver plus my weekend play thing so it's a good compromise in terms of performance, running costs etc.
