at least get the 30i... IMO you'll regret the drop in power.

Also, agree with GaryThomlinson price is a bit high.

Gong by glass guide and dealership advice, it's not outrageous, it's in season (despite today's monsoon) and I expect to be haggled. Not giving away what I would accept, but obviously more than the trade in I was offered. I am not in a rush to sell, I would like the new Z4 (and so would my wife) but it isn't that important and I am not going to cut my own throat

Thanks for the comments though, as usual on this forum, expertise is much appreciated.

I don't know the value of your car but I would add to peddy's words of caution about the 23i. I took a drive in one last week and found it incredibly gutless and uninspiring to drive for a car of that price. A more powerful engine is a must IMO.

Very nice spec car. Actually I think it's easily worth the money to someone.

Plenty of cars of this age on Autotrader at the same price.

This one carries a real nice selection of extras - red interior, xenons, 108's, nav and has a low mileage plus a warranty and frankly older Zeds are all about condition not book figures.

Good luck with the sale.

Yeah, I just looked at autotrader and I think mine is about in the middle of silly low to silly high. I do have the BMW warranty remainder as well as 2.5yrs of GAP+Smart Repair to pass on too. The GAP+ is worth nearly 600 squids.

I'd love the new 3.0 litre, but out of my range I am afraid.

Nice car, but I sold mine with similar spec for not much more on a 54 plate over a year ago, seems a little pricey IMHO.

What a productive post to add to someones 'for sale' post!

I think it looks great - good luck with the sale.

I take no umbrage. I like the forum, I know that when you sign up and stick your head above the parapet....you will receive a viewpoint that will not necessarily accord with your own. I'm cool with it.

lol at anyone taking offence to my own point of view. I'm not posting that I think the price is high to insult anyone, just in the hope that it might help the seller, its my own experience of selling in this market afterall. I personally think, and I'm entitled to say so, that the price is a little high, there are a lot of Z4's on sale right now, and while I wish you all the luck in the world, and its a very nice example on the face of it, a lower price I feel would be more realistic. So was it a productive post, well if my point of view helps the seller sell the car, then yes, I think its very productive :D

GaryThomlinson, I personally don't think it's that far off - its a big spec, but OP needs to hear all opinions

petach, good luck! I've actually heard a few reports of the 23i, with most saying it was a lot quicker than they expected... have you tried one yet? Am tempted to give one a go myself, out of curiosity.

The market does seem slow so you may need to take a chip on the asking, a little more than usual, as for the spec, I think the only thing against you is that you've got wood

Would have thought that the auto box was more of a potential market reducer ...

Yeah, that will narrow the market... I think wood is something that people may compromise on, at a price. Could be talking cobblers. Again.

All of that may be academic... from an observation you made previously I think the sports car market is going to plummet - have you seen Wondermike's update to "Thinking about a change..."

EDIT:  yep, you've seen it!

Does the car also have dryrot along with that awful autobox and wood dash? Is this one of the most negative sales threads ever compiled on the forum :?

PS I bought an auto as this was a P1 on my list and still like the wood dash - good luck with the sale

The auto will narrow the target market, generally it is something people either want or not. The up side to that, there aren't as many around so a decent car (this one) with auto means will help get close to the asking price. No-one said anything about the box being awful - with Sport, it's an under-rated option.

The big selling point of this really should be, this is the car that spawned the Petach Method - @?*$!

Streuth.....didn't realise I would cause WW3 by advertising my car, maybe it will end up a smouldering wreck after a drive by shooting....as in the fabulous pic in the August competition!

Its all down to the buyer anyway, and area. If someone is just round the corner and like it, they fingers crossed they will buy it. I never get the cheapest, as there is normally a reason why someone is selling it cheap. Mine probably cost over the odds but i liked it and it drove better than a few others i tried. Plus the mileage was good too.

Each to there own, but i always remember people saying "i got a bargain", then two weeks later its "cam sensors gone" or "how do i replace the suspension"

I get my lovely Golf Tsi 7spd dsg back next week. This is after a month in the body shop having a Ford Ka removed from its arse end. I can't wait, so with this sh1te weather I may just bed the Zed in the garage for a rest and see how I feel. In fact, I may give it a damn good going over this BH weekend, lick, spit, polish.
