Possible return to Zed Life

Hi All :D

Just joined after having a browse.

I’m test driving a low mileage 2019 Z4 2.0 at the weekend.

I owned one of the first E85’s in 2.2 guise and then a Z4M so very familiar with Zed life. I used them as my daily drivers and enjoyed every mile.

I’ve had a spell abroad and now back in the UK, so need a car and my search has included several BMW’s (I’ve owned 5 in the past so a fan of the marque) but a Z4 has climbed to the top of my list!

I intend to buy it outright, no finance, because I’ll keep it awhile. Unless someone has advice as to why buying it this way wouldn’t be the best option?

I also need to choose the engine. I loved my 2.2 and while the Z4M was awesome, I’m debating whether to go all in on a M40i or not.

Practicality is another issue…carrying my road bicycle in the boot isn’t happening despite it being small and hence my looking at M235i’s first. I do have access to an SUV though.

Anyway, I’ll have the test drive and then decide what’s best for me.

Hi and welcome from another serial BMW owner - I've got numbers 7 and 8 at the moment!

I can't help much with the purchase options as I've only ever bought outright. Could never see why paying interest made sense when I had the money. :?

If it doesn't have to be a convertible a 3.0Si E86 probably has the biggest boot of any Z4, but you still wouldn't get a bike in without removing at least a wheel - but that's what an SUV is for!

Anyway good luck finding what works best, and if it's a Z4 don't forget we like to see photos.

Don't suppose you have considered a very, very nice 440i F33 convertible have you?
Similar money to a used 4 pot G29 with 4 seats and the glorious (very low mileage) B58 6 pot engine !
I happen to have one for sale next week after it's had an inspection 2 full service. 12k miles and all the trimmings including a very nice noise!

Welcome.

I'm on my 4th Z4 (3 E89s and now a 2.0 G29), I haven't been at all disappointed with the 2 litre engine, and the G29 is a great car.

Apart from brief spells away with a 4 series and a Porsche 718 Boxster I'm delighted to be back in a Z4 :D

Cheers all

I had a test drive today in a lovely 2.0 with a great spec. Really enjoyed it. I've also had a sit in a M40i and will buy one of them next week.

Fixed that for you

Hello and welcome, the G29 is a lovely place to be :D

So I bought a low mileage M40i in San Francisco red with Shadowline, Comfort and Technology packs today. Get it delivered next week after it has had paint protection applied as part of the deal.

Hello and welcome! Something called opportunity costs. If you can invest the cash elsewhere to make you more money than the cost of the car loan, then it would actually make more sense to finance the car rather then pay cash. But only you know your financial situation so it’s for you to decide. If you can go for the M40i, I don’t think you would regret it.

Congratulations on your M40i purchase.

Once you have it don't forget we like to see photos!
