Possible power loss?

Hi all,

I have a sneaking feeling that my 2007 2.5i roadster suffers from inconsistent power delivery. In my mind it's about 50/50.
Half the time the acceleration is snappy and quick, and the other half I have the feeling that something is missing. It's not slow but it's not as much of a kick all the time.

I'm new to the Z4. Is there anything I can check?

Thanks for the suggestion. After reading up on the throttle reset I'll definitely give it a try this afternoon.
Maybe the previous owner was a lazy driver :)

On the net I've found 2 procedures. The first one didn't seem to do anything but the second one really changed the feeling of the throttle.
It's always really quick now, unlike before.

The first did not work:
Turn ignition off
Turn key to "on" position
Wait 15 seconds
Turn ignition off
Wait another 15 seconds
Start the car

The second one transformed the acceleration:
1. Get in your car, it doesn't matter if you close the door or not.
2. Turn the key to the on (not start) position, the position just before the starter turns over. BMW: press start button – foot off brake - all idiot lights on.
3. Press the gas pedal to the floor with the key in the "on" position. BMW: All idiot lights on.
4. Hold the pedal to the floor for five seconds, then turn the key back to the "off position". BMW: foot off brake press start button - all idiot lights now off (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.
5. Wait a full 2 minutes for a full electronic alignment. Don't remove the key.
6. Start engine, drive the car, notice the difference.
