Hey all,

Quick questions, is the OEM aux port something that can be installed if your cars missing it, specifically in the OEM location (under the dash, under heating controls) and NOT the ashtray?

Cant seem to see another topic on OEM install. i know aftermarket ashtray aux is poss.

Found a z4m I’m looking to potentially buy, but missing aux input. It’s a 2006 model.

yes you can fit one, you might have to plug wires into the existing socket

I have a 2005 with hi end Business unit radio. I purchased a Aux cable made for the radio plugged it in back. Then ran the Aux port to the panel under heating controls etc. I had to drill a small hole in panel to accommodate the Aux port.

I think it is early models that didn't have the Aux input.

My 2nd Coupe was built in August 2006 and didn't have it as standard, but months after I got it I wanted to get to the fusebox and found it had been retro-fitted in the glovebox. Which I preferred, as I don't like trailing wires around the gear lever! That had the standard Business head unit.

My other 2 were both built in October 2006 and had the Aux input in the OE location, but I imagine you can put the plug anywhere that the cable will reach! I think I read about a firm called Fruity Cables who sell made up cables for the Aux-in.

Hi Shuey, I removed my aux in cable when I put a Bluetooth unit in a few weeks ago. As you suggest I had it mounted on the plastic on the underside of the heating controls - I thought it looked neater there than in the ashtray. If you want to DM me your address I can post it to you? It's an OEM BMW/mini one that I had installed in a business head unit - my car is a 2004 and it just clipped into the back of the radio
