Possible new boy

Hello and welcome to my first thread, im not an owner yet but hope to have that sorted out in the not too distant future.
My situation at the moment is that I had my Focus ST written off back at the start of November and am still waiting for the insurance payout, the little worm that denied liability is now quickly running out of places to hide.
So hopefully I will receive a nice fat cheque shortly and with any luck be looking to swap it for a Z4 coupe.
What I want to know is how many of you owners are tall? I know I can go down to the dealer and have a sit and drive etc and all seems fine I know the z4 aint a big car but that’s what im after. (hoping to take it on track etc)
Basically just wondering what its like to live with on a day to day basis and on longer journeys for the longer folk out there?
Hopefully I will be able to get one before the summer when I intend to drive down to the alps again for a bit of mountainbiking.

Seems a nice forum btw so I will continue lurking if that alright with everyone.

Welcome to the forum

Too bad about your ST :(

How tall are you? I'm 6 foot and have no trouble at all, find it very comfortable over any distances :D

getting a mountain bike in the back will be a challenge though...

Welcome. You shouldn't have a problem with space for you-lots of headroom in the coupe. Your bike, however, will have to ride on a rack outside.

Hi Robb, and welcome.
Had my Zed for around 6 months and find it comfortable for a low sports car. You should no problems with your height . What it does lack is storage in the car, I also mountain bike and don’t find it suitable for long trips on adventure holidays i use my other car. Fine for city breaks etc just my opinion tho.

Cheers for the responses guys, im fairly sure I can put a rear mounted rack on the back which will be good enough for me.
Iv been going down to the alps for the last 4 or so years normally flying but last year we drove down with a few mates in a mazda bongo(shudders), at the time I remember being absolutely gutted knowing I had the ST sat at home on the drive way while negotiating yet another series of alpine hairpins.
Im 6’4” btw and have had a sit in the z4 a few times, yet to take one out, I don’t really want to get to carried away down the buying route until I get a bit more of a firm date from the insurance company.
Iv been stuck driving a 2.0D jag x-type for nearly 4 months now and cant wait to get back behind the wheel of something remotely decent, I suppose that I should be grateful that iv managed to have the rental car for so long.

Hi and welcome, I'm surprised you insurance company hasnt paid you off and claiming backt from the other party.

Good luck with the search

Welcome to the forum.

I'm 5'6 so my opinion doesn't count  Although i do have a friend with a Z4 (also on here) and i'm sure he is over 6 feet and has no problems with room :)

The Z4 is a lot more roomier than i imagined it to be when i first started thinking of getting one.

Sorry to hear about your ST, lovely cars. I've always been a Ford fan. Looking forward to the new Focus RS coming out soon :D

I went to have another sneaky look at one on the way home last night and im happy that thate is enough room inside and iv also convinced myself that a bike carrier will fit without issue onto the rear. 8) (rose tinted)
The reason my insurance hasn't paid out is I was trying not to use them, the case was going to be fairly simple, basically a lad pulled out of a side street infront of me, I crashed into the side of his car, he admitted fault, I also have an independant witness who was following me down the road and can vouch for everything. With this I thought i would just use a claims management company to avaid having to pay my excess and get a better hire car, since then the dork that pulled out has tried eery trick in the book to worm out of it, including denying he had an accident to claiming I know my independant witness on a personal level. Obliviously his insurance company has an obligation to investigate all of his allegations and its taking forever, bottom line is he has no weitness or evidence to substanciate his claim and he is running out of options.
By law I have to give them reasonable time to investigate the accident and this will of run out on the 5th march, so basically im just waiting now to pursue this in court, seriously people like that should be locked out of nice society.
Hopefully it wont be too much longer now and i ca go out and treat myself.

Agree with Lucy the ST was a lovely car and will be missed, im just one of those guys that likes trying new things and cant bring myself to buying the same car twice, i have a list of things as long as my arm that i would like to own at some point and going over the same ground wont get me there.

for all you carnage fans:
