Possible job move....

Just in the throws of considering a job move to Nepal, based in Kathmandu but with travel to the rest of the country as required. Eight weeks on three weeks off (on average) with first few weeks in a hotel and then a fairly reasonable allowance to rent an apartment. Was there last year but only as a tourist.

Anyone else worked there or have any idea what the apartment rental is like?

A change of scenery is always fun

What is your profession Alan? As you travel / relocate a fair bit

Work for the UK Department for International Development (DfID - UKaid) - mostly developing countries who require a little help towards achieving a democratically elected government. Concentrate on jutice and security issues.

If I go for Nepal it will be the last full time deployment I think before coasting into retirement - bloody hell sound like my father (and rather frighteningly when I look in the mirror I see my old Dad looking back, bless him  ).

South Sudan is a challenge but when a 2 metre long Black Mamba snake slid its way into the office the other day I thought, "Enough is enough" :!:

At least Mrs J can visit in Nepal

You are a far braver man than I am to go to places like those. Considering that they seem to resist democracy mightily. Thank you for your service to your country.

sounds an interesting job, if not challenging with the bent politicans both here and there

Nepal - go for it, something to add to your stories once you plonk yourself in that rocking chair

You sure your existing country is not kicking you out because of your muslim joke?
