Possible E89 purchase

I had not considered remapping which sounds a possibility but I think my more cautious nature would steer me away.

I think I have narrowed down my requirements a bit including :
2.5 or 3.0 litre, automatic, heated seats. Nice to have would be parking sensors and the remote control that works on opening and closing the roof !
When an ad says 'electric seats' does that automatically mean they are heated? Also do all models have the seat adjustment to lower the height?

I have been looking and saw this ad https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2224079497855847/
It sounds ok but if any more experienced members could give me their opinion I would be very grateful
Cheers

If anyone has some comments on the car I have come across on Facebook I would be grateful.

I've seen this one advertised because its relatively near me for some time. its quite high mileage at 84k, and doesn't have the nicer DCT gearbox or iDrive or MSport seats (which are much nicer than the alledgely "sport" ones on it). I'd prefer cruise ... but thats a personal thing.. Shame its dirty too (well under the engine at least!) Rob

he certainly did not put any effort into prepping the car for sale pictures.
unless I am mistaken it appears to have the standard seats, rather than the more desirable m sport seats.
seems reasonable money, but possibly better out there, with less miles and m sport seats, which are not only more desirable, but for me, are much more comfortable for a car of this type.
to give you some idea, I bought the same model and year 3months ago, with similar spec, but has the m sport seats and cruise control, 54000 miles and did not pay considerably more than that.
it pays to look around, and travel for the right car.

I purchased an e89 last year. I originally looked at the 2.3l but after testing driving it and then a couple of days later trying the 2.8l manual my mind was set. I was sold on the 2.8l obviously. I absolutely love it. Great punch great sound and perfect for motorway cruising long distance but also great fun if I want it at the weekend. 1079B186-ECFD-4EF0-A588-55B22557AB03.jpeg

That looks great, thanks for the pictures.
I will post a 'Wanted' in the appropriate section. Baza is kindly going to send me some details of his car when he gets a chance

Well, just test drove this one http://www.motorzonebristol.com/used-car-details/used-bmw-z-series-z4-sdrive23i-roadster-convertible-silver-automatic-petrol/id-18617/ 2.5l version which was definitely more fun ( to me) than the 2l. Friendly, helpful sales guy too.
He is coming back to me on a better price. I want to try the 3l version as well. The ride was a a bit harsh and I am not sure if they were run flats or not so I took a picture-if anyone can comment that would be great (on the tyre and car)?

Sorry I can't help much regarding the car as I've only had E86s.

But from what I can make out those tyres are a budget brand and they don't seem to make run-flats.

Run-flat tyres usually say they are run-flats somewhere on the tyre wall, and should have some sort of marking to that effect - usually "RSC".

Thank you Mr Tidy.
I was looking for such a designation too so guessed they may not be run flats. The ride was still a bit harsh though!

hi Yoghurt,
Do you think the ride was harsh because it was the different model? Or just the specific car ?
Also, interested to know why you want auto v's manual?

Hi Scirl

The ride seemed a bit harsher than the 2l model I had previously tried. Both appear to have non run flats but maybe yesterdays had cheaper tyres. I prefer an Auto as I have got used to one with my current car, especially in traffic jams. I realise this may be limiting my options a but though!

Hello

Can I ask how the parking sensors work on an E89 please? If the screen with the SatNav is installed does something come up on the display?
Or is it simply warning tones?

Thanks
