Posh Wheels Mansfield

Looks like the standard kind of thing - someone trying their had at selling used cars. Long time ebay member but no recent feedback. I live in Mansfield and I've never heard of them but that doesn't really mean much!

Yeah..not got good reviews unfortunately,
gutted because that’s going to put me off buying and I really want this one!..

I wouldn't take too much notice of on-line reviews when it comes to cars (or anything else) TBH.

The dealer didn't make the car. All they did was buy it from somewhere and are flogging it for a profit. That's what ALL car dealers do. And it's the only thing they do.
On another forum there have been many complaints about the standard of BMW Approved Used Cars lately. And they charge a massive premium for those.
I have seen many 'approved used' that were shockingly poor, so there are no guarantees wherever you buy a car these days.

I’ve went to this place once to look at a 3.0si. Didn’t buy it as it had a few dings and car park knocks etc, and I’m wayyy too fussy, but that’s really the only reason. It’s not a flash place by any means, as is probably obvious from the outside, but he had some nice stuff in there, a few jags, Lexus, etc, as well as run of the mill stuff. Tbh I’d normally be put off buying anything from sellers in these types building etc, but he seemed a decent chap, wasn’t a scruffy halfwit, didn’t try the hard sell etc, I honestly didn’t really see any difference to this guy than a posh place in what he sells, you do your due diligence as with anywhere, so imho it’s worth you having a look if it’s a car you want.

Ancient thread from Pistonheads…

If the guy is “Steve” it does seem to indicate he’s been around since at least 2010 (so must be doing something right) and there are a couple of positive, albeit very old, comments about him.

The thing is, some traders do it properly, they prep the car, do any jobs, get an advisory free MOT (check out High Peak Autos on YouTube for example) whilst others just give it a wash and put a price in the screen.

We had a works trip to a BMW place in Leeds I think it was that was the main centre for producing “BMW approved used cars”. It’s a massive operation, they turn around over one thousand cars a week! They’ve got full workshops, paint booths etc.
it was about ten years ago though.

It is how often those advisory free MOT are not accurate is my problem. Dealers are not checking their cars properly or have a friendly MOT tester that will overlook issues.

Main dealers trying to convince buyers they've performed hundreds of checks on every approved used car is a lot of lies too.

It's also the amount of times dealers try and worm their way out of repairing faults on cars they've sold.

Thanks for the replies fellas, going to have a look but If it looks good and drives good then I’m going to get a car inspection from Click Mechanic before I hand over my cash just for a bit more piece of mind,I’ll keep you posted..

Their eBay account only has one Z4. I assume it's the black 06 plate car with 49,000 miles?

The eBay hpi check shows the car is an import.

The brake pipes and hoses have been an advisory for a couple of years. That's a job that will need done.

The oil leak would concern me. They've had an oil leak advisory for five years. Why have they never got that fixed?

Not sure if advisory means its an import - I've run it through several other online checkers and it comes back to not being an import.

Damn it!..just about to set off..I paid £20 for a vehicular check with Car Vertical and it did’nt flag that up?..

Yeah I would have thought that would flag on the Car Vertical check, what about the point about the oil leak?..

It might be that it’s had a plate change at some point which is confusing things. The advisory tag on eBay might just be covering themselves.
I know I’d trust a Car-vertical check far more than a free one, plus there are no notes with the eBay one to say what their flags actually mean.
