I bet the bloke with the white stick on the sidewalk is the one who built it.

Its a shame that if i decided to stick an "M" badge on the back of my car, not that i have any intension of doing so, i would probably feel pressured in leaving this forum because of some of the bullying comments made in this thread, comments on here certainly would not prevent me from personalising my car in any way i choose.
I respect peoples opinion on what is good or bad taste and hopefully they would express it in good taste.
So if i turned up at a "meet" with my "M" badge on the back of my sport coupe would you greet me with "morning twat or Morning eunuch? i dont think so, be much better if people would have a little bit more respect for the way in which some members choose to personalise their car.

Welcome to Z4-forum..... a very fickle lot here,
see how this thread's opinion suddenly changes after your post.....
I don't see the issue, but some on here would have people hung for it... Maybe they are the tw*ts.....

Here come the badge police with their siren...... "tut tut, tut tut, tut tut"

If I had paid good money for an M only to find the brand washed out by the below, then I'm sure I would be somewhat disappointed

I paid good money for my "M" but was I bothered by the above? No, not in the slightest.... Nor am I bothered by people who then think that a car with an M badge is automatically an M, because obviously they are not real car enthusiasts.
Also BMW are the biggest brand reducers themselves by fitting M badges to every steering wheel, alloy wheel and other bit of plastic trim it will fit on.
So what...let them have their badges..I prefer the engine.

But you clearly are 'bothered' about people who are 'bothered' about M badges are on non M's

I can see this being a long thread :)

What Sunday afternoons are all about LOL

john56, I would like to think its just a bit of Sunday humour.

Indeed, no offence intended. Apologies if anyone took offence, I personally wouldn't buy a fake Rolex ;-)

I am bothered by people who think others can't do what they want on their own cars without being compared to a tw*t. and having it seconded by others.
It is a ridiculous attitude bordering on snobbery and yes, that bothers me..
Live and let live I say.

Is this any different to someone sticking a designer label on a supermarket t-shirt, or flaunting a knock off copy of a watch? Of course people can do what they want, but it will invite comment from people who have the real thing.

I'm new to Zed ownership so don't really understand all this \\\W sorry "M" shenanigans. Is the M effectively a special edition of the Zed? Like when Nissan did a limited run of the Micra "Pink Fizz"?

Hehe :fuelfire:

I'd bet my bottom dollar that the owner of that black Beemer probably is, in all likelihood and considering all the logical possibilities around taste, geography and delusion, a little bit of a twat.

But then again, arent we all

I don't see how you can compare it to snobbery, I am far from a snob, I just don't see why you would want to badge a car as something it is not. The badge does not a M make... And BTW I don't have a M, mine is a SI.

Perhaps worth noting that the E34 540 was actually a V8, and in Canada they made a 540 M sport version.

I'm not saying the one you saw was but worth noting for next time.

Its called choice, and having that, should not make them "look like a tw*t"

Exactly, so why make a fuss about them..

The twat comment was a bit of banter for which I have already apologised.

I would rather appreciate a car for what it is and not for what the driver wants it to be.

Top and bottom is most people don't like liars. You put an M badge on a car and it ain't an M and you're a liar. You've put it on there to attempt to fool people, to me that makes you a twat - not a very bright one either...

Couldn't agree more about BMW been the biggest culprit. M stands for marketing... :D

What is going on on this forum lately? I'm scared to get involved in anything for fear of offending someone. It used to be a fun place to hang out. Not so sure anymore.
