I don't think my comments were harsh, there was no need for him to plonk his arse on the grass and stop the game, he just wanted a big exit so all eyes were on his ego...

Seems I'm not the only one of that opinion....

The rules state that the match will only be stopped if you go down injured.

If you walk off, the game still carries on and your team will be at a disadvantage until the sub is made.

Maybe learn the rules before judging people?

I would like to say, yes that's what us girls do. I've taken two serious injuries whilst playing cricket. Not cried, just got up and got on with it for the sake of my team. We're tougher than you think :-x

With Ronaldo off, Portugal look very average, so I doubt that they will win unless it goes to penalties. Personally, I would like France to win.

Because he plonked himself down, the match didn't stop until the ball went dead anyway - he didn't have a head injury so the ref wouldn't have stopped it...

He'd already signalled that he needed to come off so the bench could have made the substitution at the next stoppage anyway - and he was quite capable of walking off the field unaided.

All three "great sporting" events today have been an anti-climax so far !

I enjoyed the F1 today - first time for a while - especially the opening few laps. CH4 coverage was pretty good. Wimbledon was more of a procession for Murray, but still enjoyed it. However the football was spoilt after Ronaldo went off - sort of killed the game.
