Portsmouth, Z4C wanted...

Hi everyone,

I have been reading this forum for ages now trying to make up my mind about what car to treat myself with???

The list has got loads smaller over the last month or so, and was cemented on a Z4C 3.0Si sport. Me and the missus went around the local dealers together, usually a big mistake as the missus is not interested in cars at all, and the scene is usually the same scenario as when she drags me to the clothes shops. But on this occasion she seemed mildly interested. We went to Audi, BMW, VW, Mercedes, and an independent dealership, which are all in the same area in Portsmouth. I test drove an Audi S3 which was great if not a little boring. The missus said "Just looks like any other hatchback to me!".
I had been looking at the Z4C and lusting over JDM's beautiful example, but thought it was a little impractical, not that I cared but I thought Sarah would never agree.

But, whilst in the BMW dealers, she said "That looks nice" and pointed at a Midnight blue metallic Z4C with cream leather. When I pointed out that it was in fact a two seater she said "So's your motorbike but that didn't stop you buying it!" At this point I did need to check that this was in fact my missus so went into the normal bank security clearance questions "What is your mothers maiden name?, When is your wedding anniversary? What is your date of birth?" If only I knew the answers!!

So from that point it was full attack search for Z4C's. I have a budget of around 12K but the longer the search goes on the higher the budget will be.

There aren't any in dealers in my area for me to have a drive, the one that was at snow's wasn't ready and sold within three days and was £17K for a 56 reg with 44K miles no sat nav, extended storage etc.

So the search continues.....

Thanks micz4, I see you are local to me! I hadn't been to Hayling for ages, until this week! my Nan has moved into a nursing home by the seafront. I did notice a Z4 yesterday on my way there, it was parked up on the main road, could it have been yours? Was going a bit fast so didn't notice too much detail.

i live in Milton now so not too far either, went to snows last sunday to have a look at 1015 but no one was around....even though im sure its meant to open at 10am on a sunday, anyhoo i've been watching snow bmw's stock and didnt even see a z4 come on their database, even though last september i did enquire about upgrading to an ///m, left all my details with the salesman who assured me as soon as a z4m arrived he would let me kno....still waiting for that phonecall!

but good luck with your search mate!

Think the Z4MC maybe a little expensive to run! I work in the New Forest area so will be doing quite a lot of miles! Plus I imagine you will want more than my budget!

Thanks though!!

Well, in just a weeks time I will have my mental budget in the bank!! I have £12k in which to buy a Z4C 3.0Si sport.

I have seen a few on Pistonheads that I like, but I haven't been to see any in the flesh.

The spec I would like is as follows;

Blue/Grey/Silver I like black but it is a nightmare to keep clean!
3.0Si Sport Manual.
Not bothered about leather colour, but not too sure about the red (from photos, guess it would be better to see in the flesh).
108's or CSL's, but again not too important as I can always get exactly what I want at a later date.
Sat Nav, or at least the upgraded speaker pack (whatever that is called) Bluetooth.

I have just read this back, and it would appear that I am not all that fussy!

Like the look of this one

Welcome to the forum (think you should go for a roadster tho! :poke: :D )

Good luck with your search.

I am planning a road trip when I have the cash ready in the bank, Shrewsbury is in the route I have planned so may have a look at this, shame there aren't any pictures yet.

I must admit that the new shape Z4 is a lovely looking car, and that would be the only roadster I would want, I just can't afford one!! Well the missus won't let me have one. She prefers the idea of a holiday!

Welcome - the coupe is the right choice of course. If you are looking for a manual you should be quite comfortable finding one in your price point privately.

Dealer prices will be around £13k for a reasonable car.

Now you have to decide exactly what you want and stick to it. Took me 4 months to find mine but it was worth it in the end. Good luck!
