Porsche Slight regret

Tomscott, honestly mate, a bit of constructive criticism:

1) I would suggest you don't mention your dad or his car again on this forum as it's making you sound like a complete and utter kn0b :headbang:
2) Complaining at the age of 23 that you have a Z4M but really would like a porsche just antagonises everyone else here who's had to spit blood in order to earn enough money to buy an M... myself included :headbang:
3)Every Tom, Dick and Harry has got a Porsche now. They are so common, I would call them the Vauxhall of Sports cars... If you really insist on having one, get yourself an early 90s Turbo 911... Now that's a beauty

Anyway, now that's I've set the cat among the pigeons and got that off my chest, I'm off 8)

No offence mate but This is pretty unnecessary. Its not bragging its passion, I love cars and so does my dad. Nothing wrong with sharing experiences with people. And I will continue to do so.

BTW I really couldn't care less about your situation. I worked fucking hard for that Z4M I am good at what I do and I get paid well for it. Every penny in that car is mine. I am pretty fortunate, but I put in a lot of hours to get where I am at 23 and I also have a very good degree and job which is why I bought one. And a lot of student debt :(

They may be two a penny where you live but here in Cumbria you don't see many performance cars because its not a wealthy area unlike the south. It is sickening when I go to Wimbledon where my uncle lives and every other car is a performance car but its just in the nature of areas.

To everyone else cheers for the points haha! Its not a 'OMG I've made the wrong choice' you know when you have a little voice in the back of your head! I just love Porsches and can't get away from it. In the end all of the points you have all made, I came to the same conclusion hence the purchase of the Z4M. I love it and It is amazing! and don't take it in the way that I don't think so, its just the devil in my head haha! Especialy when you see cars in that good condition at a good price.

Its just opinion :D

Well said JP - We like hearing from you Tomscott

Cheers DrNick I do have a tendance to go on a bit but its just because I am so passionate about the cars! Nothing more I like doing than talking about them

Wow, been off to fetch daughter and the forum has exploded!

If my dad had a super car I'd be quite chuffed too! Porsche is a sensible choice for supercar ownership on a budget. Is an M a supercar? Debatable but let's all love our wheels and a bit of mutual respect.

Oh hang on, Tom has a coupe! :poke: :)

Tapatalking...

It is close to being a super car just without the status no one knows what they are haha! Which is quite nice!

Should have found a targa a posted it then it might have made everyone happy haha!

LOL, not being funny but it looks exactly the same to me... precisely why I don't like Porches I think

Seconded - sorry not for me. If its not a 968 or a 944 Turbo S2 I'm not impressed..

If you've got an itch, you've gotta scratch it Tom. Life's too short. Mind you, and putting the roof aside for a moment, you've got a beautiful motor which you've obviously enjoyed spending time on (and in).

Tom... I owned mine for 8 months and got bored! Dont get me wrong they are fantastic cars! but there almost to good if that makes sense  The Z4M is a propper drivers car! a little bit ruff round the edges! Its far more involving than the 997 and more quirky! Pound for pound for a decent 997s with sports chrono pack is going to cost you mid to late 20's! And then you can still have problems with RMS, coil packs, Front rads etc! Dont buy the 996 4S! as the 997S is so much better!!! Just make sure you you stick to the C2! Much more fun

There are some lovely cars people have put up on here. That one is really nice

Well ye I have to agree, but its that... its a Porsche haha. If I was going to buy one it would have to be perfect and would need a warranty, I'm just like that. Im not mechanically minded enough to sort things out, and its a bit of piece of mind. I much prefer the interior to the Z4M and also the seats find the seats in dads really uncomfortable. I was insured on it for the first month that he had it so got a little milage on it. Was just fantastic to drive, but there really is no difference performance wise until you get over 130. I like the C4S because of the turbo body. Might sound stupid but the 4S 4 wheel drive system is good with winter tyres so thats a bonus because the weather is crap in winter.

Anyway it wasn't a 'I'm going to sell my Z thread' just wish thread lol. If I really wanted to I could get back insured on the CS but it costs enough for my Z and I'm not that fussed. Nice to wipe the smile off his face when I payed less than half for mine and has pretty much the same performance and better kit.

We are taking the cars into europe this summer. Dad and his best mate in the Porsche Cs me and mine in the Z4M and my uncle and my cuz with his Ferarri 355... now that will be some road trip! Cant wait! Should get some cracking pics!

But I am one of those change it and swap it kind of people. IMHO lives too short and its worth trying as much as you can before you can't so I'm going to try and have as many cars as I can that I can afford. I don't generally keep them more than 2 years because I like trying newer and different things. It will be hard to swap the Z but for me the 911 is the next step up.

Tom I really wouldn't lose sleep over it if I were you. Ive got the standard Z4 coupe and it breaks my heart sometimes when I look at it in the garage parked next to my fathers cars. He's the proud owner of a 16m Scuderia and a 997.2 Turbo S cab with a type 1 etype roadster in between.

At the end is my little Z, but while I can't match the superiority of his vehicles yet, I still get into the Z and think hey, there's plenty of power under the bonnet of the Z to have more than enough fun with. And I can honestly tell you those garage queens my dad owns never see the light of day, so I'd rather have a car at the moment that I can use on a day to day basis and not have to worry about the cost or risk of doing so. Besides, although you can buy a warranty, its not just the risk of repair, it tyres, insurance, parts.....the list goes on, and the M you have will be just as quick as a 996 non turbo.

Your Dad wins! I love the sound of the e-type. It would be nice to see a photo.

i think toms probably in the same situation that a lot of ppl find themselves in, def including me! im always looking at the next car even though two years ago a Z4 (even a 2.0) was my dream car and nothing else would do, now i cant wait to get rid of it just to move on, half the problem is i dont know which car to get, i change my mind all the bloody time and one day i ll think "no u should just save the money and then u can buy a house and be sensible" and the next im like "ahhh f it your young, work hard, so why not get what u want in life" i've researched everything including TVR's, 997's, M3's, maser gransports, AM Vantage and even a 360! Think its just a car guys constant battle to keep up with desires but its all good fun until ur living in a ditch but hey ho if thts how things were meant to be the nce sera sera or however the song goes. :driving: :driving: :driving: :driving: :driving:

I need to get some snaps, have been keeping my head low for a while, uploaded a video going through the Hindhead Tunnel in the 430 and it made its way to the front page of the dailyfail website (this resulted in a fair few individuals calling for the car to be scrapped etc on the comment threads) :headbang:  . Anyhow, will wait for the weather to really get going and will get some 'topless' pics asap (even though my cars the only hardtop :tumbleweed: )

Tom, good to hear you're unfazed by critical reactions, I wasn't expecting this thread to explode quite so much. One thing to consider, you don't always want to eat the same meal everyday, and while your Z4M is an incredible machine, if you had the chance to go for a porker, then I would say f**k it. And if you found you missed the M so badly that you regretted your decision, then you could always return to one!

Thats it exactly! It's all about enjoying yourself and ye I go round and round about cars lol! Will never be content and hope I never will be!

997S is far superior to the 996S in every way IMO, wait till you can get a good example of that...

And while we are having a pop at tomscott, is that you in your pic or Tyrone from Corrie?
