Porsche look after us :)

Ok still have a big soft heart for BMW after 2 x 6 series and 2 x Z4's

But Porsche really do know how to look after you. One of my alloys was a slightly different colour to the rest after a refurb and now it's having all wheels done - courtesy car delivered to me...goes like a train, 4.2 Diesel. Great interior too

Pig ugly when launched, that has developed into a nice looking car now. Interior and drive have always been great though!

Granted, RR is better looking but not as well built

Back to the topic though, I have heard lots of good reports about Porsche really looking after folks... BMW could take a few lessons from them.

This is a bit of a conundrum, porsche seem expensive to get into, but if you stay with the brand then it looks like it gets relatively less expensive as you go up the tree and they do seem to award loyalty in that respect.

Any long term porsche owners confirm this?

In my brief experience with Porsche, I found service very good at looking after my money

I do like the multiple invitations to take their cars around the track for a day at Silverstone. They look after you with breakfast / lunch and a dedicated instructor.

Never get anything like that with BMW. The best I get there is a car for the weekend.

I think it very much depends on on where you buy the car and who services it, as long as it's a approved used with a full manufactures service history I believe they will treat you very well. Sadly my Boxster was bought from a Maserati main dealer and had been serviced by them prior to giving it to me, consequently when my car developed the well documented bore scoring problem Porsche didn't want to know.

From my research this was quite normal, well known and documented problems like bore scoring and IMS bearing failure were just met with a shrug of the shoulders.

My thoughts exactly.

Being and Indie user, I can only say that the one time I went to BMW main dealer, for an Ins 1. They charged me over £900 and gave me back a dirty car. That had been spotless when it was left with them. After reading what had been done I have never gone back to any BMW dealer.

I agree with the above. About to take delivery of my 3rd Porsche in December. Had a Cayman S, a 911 (991) Carrera S, and now soon to step into a new Cayenne Platinum Edition. I still have my Z4 2.2 which I have had from new too which allows me to stay here!

Porsche customer service genuinely is, in my experience, second to none. I have never felt like a number with them, I get courtesy cars whenever I've needed them, including panameras and 911's, and they have looked after me each time I have changed cars.

I agree that having a car within the network will help though.

A great brand in my mind. As with BMW though, a brand is only as good as the dealer you have experience of.

I would be pretty disappointed though if I received shoddy service from Porsche, afterall you're paying for it and you get what you pay for these days. I would rate BMW only slightly above the Fords and Peugeots etc in the world of customer service as volume sales manufacturers. I imagine Porsche need to hold onto their customers  and the likes of BMW rely more on volume/fleet sales and may tend to have customers who might not necessarily be brand loyal. I also think with BMW its very much the dealer who makes or breaks the ownership experience. I've stuck with mine over the years as generally they are good. Worst was Vauxall and Peugeot who were completely disinterested with warranty problems.

Tim.

 - I had the hybrid version of this as a loaner - for me the weakest car in the Porsche range - mpg was awful and it feels very heavy in comparison to RRS. Save the money and buy the Touareg .

However, In terms of looking after the enthusiast Porsche are pretty good bordering on the excellent, we went to WEC in April and all the Porsche Club members were bused round to the Porsche Experience Centre for the day for use of their viewing area, interview session with the LMP1 drivers and demo laps of the centre. Some people there might be 911R clients but a lot are 924 /944 or Air Cooled owners with no intention of buying a new Boxster anytime soon.

In my neck of the woods we don't have a specialist Indy so S lot of cars are still serviced at the local centre .

As said pig ugly. Take my Disco 4 any day proper 4x4  Porsche should stick to Sports Cars, they are very good at that. AIMHO

How have you found the dealership service on the D4... In the end I gave up .

I loved them and as you say nothing better in wintry conditions but man the local dealer became a pain .
