Porsche Boxster 3.2 how much for quick sale

Hi All

quick question

a pal of mine has a 2005 3.2 boxster s, 65k miles, sports seat, sat nav sport suspension, metallic black

hes found a 996 turbo he wants and wants a quick sale

anyone got an opinion on what to pitch it at to sell fast ?

its in very nice condition
 
Take it thats its a 987?

If so.....Quick sale needs to be around 10k...

There are enough out there with similar miles for under £11,000..

What a load of rubbish....... Both the 2.7 & 3.2 can be effected by IMS but history shows it tends to crop up around 40-50k miles.... Not to say it cant happen sooner or later if your unlucky.....
 
I'd say £10k for a quick sale.

I'm in the market for an 05/06 Boxster at the moment so have been keeping a close eye on the market and there are plenty out there to chose from. Sounds like it has a decent spec which should help.

I have been avoiding the 3.2 as it has had more IMS issues than the 2.7 based on my experience, and the latter will for the most part do what I need it to but keep looking at them all......

Most IMS issues should have appeared by 65k though......
 
It's not a load of rubbish, the M96 engine is crap and many are now throwing in there hand.

Bore scoring, D chunking and IMS bearing collapsing is common,and there are stories of chains starting to jump and snap.

Mileage,history and use don't come into the equation.. The engine can cork at anytime,anyplace.

And when it does its gonna cost..... £8000-£10,000 depending on how good/bad it has crapped itself..


I have had 2 x 911's... And the Porsche paranoia is an awful thing to have
 
I've also had 2 911's although one of them had a GT1 block so none of the issues.

I don't think it affects a large percentage of cars (I don't know of anyone personally who has been affected and have come across in excess of 200 owners) but when it does people will publicise the issues to try and get help etc...
 
I agree..

Not a large percentage but a fair amount considering how many M96's are out there.

Dont get me wrong,all engines have foibles and failures but the cost of putting an M96 back on the road is bordering on ludicrous...

Indeed it can write off a 10-12 year boxster/911.....Madness considering the new prices of these cars..

Read my advise again and weep.

Those are the prices, that's the reality. Ims on the 3.2 is a time bomb.

If like me you have ever considered a Boxster and were concerned about IMS this is worth a look as it actually explains exactly what it's about, that it affects the 2.5 as well and that an uprated IMS bearing is available at a fraction of the cost of waiting for it, and the engine to crock. It certainly put me off the Boxster when you see how many are advertised with encouraging information about a recent engine rebuild! :cry:
