Pork, Strudel & Cheese With Holes - a road trip :-)

Sorry I've been neglecting this thread! Will sort some things out when I get home! But yes def ready for a pool day after a 500 odd km today!

Feels weird not going to the national meet... Like cheating on a gf haha! :driving:

Weather has been rubbish here in Cornwall all week. This little blogg is cheering us up each evening. :) Safe homeward journey guys. :driving:

Funny that it feels ages ago that we were with you guys. Weather has been great for the trip.

So all rejoined together back in Koln yesterday evening after some long sections of Autobahn with heavy traffic and diversions adding to the fun after leaving Luzern and Munich in the Morning. Some chances to open the 997 open a bit on the Autobahn but a lot of sections at 80 km/h due to roadworks. but it was baking 39 to 40 deg C being measured around Frankfurt.

Just about 3 hours to run back to the Ferry today although we will need to pick our route to miss the traffic that will come with Le Tour which starts in Utrecht today.

Photo Catch up.... Tom will arrive with the more crafted versions later...

Targa @ the top of the Stelvio ( the full trio photo will come from Tom and its a a stunner)

Its been an incredible 10-12 days from the hot plains of Super Car Valley to the even Hotter Alpine passes of which we completed - The Susten, The Julier, The San Marco, The Stelvio, The San Bernadinho The Furka and the Grimsel Pass.

Visited the 911 and Boxter Production line and Porsche Museum, Ferrari Maranello and the Enzo Ferrari Museum n Modena, had a factory tour of Pagani where we saw Horacio himself and then a coffee stop opposite Lamborghini where one of the Lamborghini guys whilst taking hes Espresso took a photo of my Targa 8) . The Scotts also packed in BMW in Munich .

its difficult to think of ow on a future trip we can equal this one its had a bit of everything - fantastic company, brilliant weather , outstanding roads and some breathtaking museums and sights.

onward to the Ferry but a pretty happy bunny this morning :driving:

Lovely photos - raining here at the moment so the jealousy index has just ticked up another notch

Safe journey home everyone

Raining here this morning with a few big rumbles of Thunder... at first i thought Jax had fired up the Boxter S in Sports Mode ..... hence its new nickname.... Blue Thunder

Good summary indeed and was pleased to be part of it

For a diversion avoiding Utrecht, I think I would target Venlo, Breda, Rotterdam and go up from there.

Satan clearing his throat & going off on one

I'm very jealous of all we've missed, but really, really chuffed to have shared what we did with you guys - best road trip I've ever been on, that's for sure :driving: 8)

Have a safe trip back... Make sure Allan doesn't get wet, it'll mess up his hair - and he hates that :D

thanks PVR but looking at the route it is a south west route so i was thinking of heading North.....

http://www.letour.fr/le-tour/2015/us/stage-2.html

Le tour is headed for Rotterdam and Gouda before finishing in Zeeland.

it was a pleasure to have you on board would have loved to done some of the other passes as a bigger group particurlaly as i got the PDK dialed in correctly later in the trip. Perry there will be others :D

Ah ok, did not know it was going that way so yes - avoid Rotterdam :D

Roadtrips abroad are very special, would not have wanted to have missed it

I think we're all in that slightly down / going home mood - considering the highs we've experienced on this trip it's hardly surprising. I intend to write a bit more and post some more pics from the many hundreds we have.

Despite some frustrating traffic & diversions yesterday we did make some decent progress on the 'Bahn with even mrs jax hitting 210kph - I seen 240kph at one point too. Thunder looks to have eased but roads likely to be well greasy after the 40 degree heat yesterday -on board tyre pressures rose to 39 (from33).

Looking forward to one proper pint on the ferry - some of the German beers have been disappointingly small and not as cold as needed. Last night in Cologne was fun with a fantastic party atmosphere - we all celebrated with an ice cream and a longish walk home. Earlier mrs jax and I enjoyed a very cool swim at Neptunbad.

Packing up for ferry soon. :driving: :driving: :driving:

13 days, 6 countries, 5 cars, 2 boats, 12 hotels, 3000 miles, 3500 pics, hundreds of hairpins, thousands of feet, 4 car museums, 2 car factories, 3 squeaky bum moments, no arguments, too much food and drink, endless scenery, 1/4 of oil, 4 walkie talkies, 8 great friends. One of the best experiences of my life. We're home! :(

Wish we were still going but what a journey, just incredible.

Oi - there were 9 of us :poke: :D

Delighted you're all home safe... Can't wait for you lot with decent cameras to get some better photos up. Though I know it'll take a while Tom, sooooooo many flies to edit out

I have lots of walls in the garage to cover with pictures so get a move on Tom :poke: :D

Well thats the Northern car home on the driveway in Aberdeenshire , 2800 miles since last Wednesday and I managed to squeeze another Museum in on the way home in the quiet Borders town of Duns ... The Jim Clark room dedicated to this Borders Man ...Formula 1 World Champion, 1963 and 1965, 72 Grand Prix starts, 25 Wins, 33 Pole Positions Winner Indianapolis 500, 1965 ( i.e. he won the world championship and the 500 in the same year)....

Only Mrs Zermatt remains a straggler back from Northern Italy tonight.... her idea of a fly-drive holiday is I drive and she flies...

Brilliant time everyone - i think it will take a few days to come to terms with what we saw, we drove and we visited .

for those thinking of a similar trip i can recommend the book PawnSacrifice ( formally of this forum) recommended.... One Careful Owner
