Poor range on remote locking

Hi guys, my Zed only came with one key and since I've had it, the range has been very poor for the remote locking and seems to be getting worse.

It appears you cannot change the batteries, so presumably it's time to order a new key and have it coded to the car? I could do with a spare anyway...

Is this best done by an indie so that a dealer won't have my trousers down?

Any advice appreciated. :-)

Would recommend Ben at BM Keys.

Ive just had one done. He is in Eastham, London. This was a problem as Im in Dundee but fortunately we went to London for a weekend trip 2 weeks ago so I killed 2 birds with 1 stone. I took my Ews module out and took that and the key with me. He did the key in about 10 mins. £50. £100_+ cheaper than BMW.

You can take your car to him and he does it all or arrange with him to send the module by special delivery, he says on the M3 cutters forum that he will send it back the same day he receives it. He has a good reputation for those who are concerned. Special delivery insures your item as well during transit.

The module must have 3+ on it, I think this is all Z4s. Its located in the RHS footwell. Drop the panel below the steering wheel, 3 screws, and its there on the rhs. Secured by 2 nylon nuts. You dont need to disconnect the battery either to take it out. Takes about 10 mins for removal/Install. Its awkward as you are upside down in the small space that is the footwell.

His site has his contact number and email address. BMkeys.com

The key range is pretty poor on z4's anyway, i had/have this issue and raised it with the forum - seems most people suffer from pretty pathetic range.
