Poor Idle

Hi there, poor idle is cured by removing connection to MAF sensor so I gave it a good clean but problem remains. I'm guessing I need to replace the MAF sensor?

There is no MAF sensor ..MAP sensor?

What does your BMW specfic fault code reader say?

Sorry yes Map sensor. I got a few codes including cylinder misfire but foolishly didn't make a note of them before clearing. Now they are not showing.

Check the cam covers not cracked or warped, i had to replace on my N52 engine due air leak.
Oil in one spark plug hole.

No luck there. Unfortunately has continued to get worse and today threw engine flashing light with several misfire codes and a 277a code from the Creator code reader.

Any ideas?

Thanks as always.

I’d be checking coil packs and spark plugs, do the miss fire codes relate to a specific cylinder?

No, it just says several. I have a couple of spare injectors I could try

Well my time with Z4 's has come to a rather sad end after 6 years. They did a compression test and there is none on cylinder three and also no end to the spark plug that is now somewhere in the engine. My garage has advised a new engine and this has effectively written off the car which was probably worth about £5K.

I can't afford another car at present so it's the electric bike and train for me.

Thank you to all your help over the years, it has been greatly appreciated.

Oh dear…starting to hear more (3) N20 with failed compression on one cylinder…it will cost typically about £5k+ to repair… :tumbleweed: :headbang:

Could be the end of the plug is holding the valve open causing the loss of compression.
Find garage or invest in borescope camera to have a look inside.
Someone might do head off fix.
