Every time i go under a bridge i lose my reception when listening to am (5 live specifically) and also my key fob doesn't work unless i'm standing right next to my car :x Its getting quite annoying now. Am i right in saying that radio reception and key fob reception are linked in some way? Something to do with the back windscreen? Any help would be appreciated.

No the 2 are not in any way linked

Radio uses a combinatio of FM aerial across the inside of the rear bumper and the wing aerial. Have you fitted a stubby aerial?

Key fob sensor is under the mirror. Most common cause is interference in the area. It it the same wherever you park?

Rear screen is not part of the aerial system on the Zed (well not the roadster so I assume not the coupe either)

I can't help with the radio but I would say that the AM reception on mine is abysmal. As I never use AM it's not an issue, DAB radio is the way forward for 5 Live albeit a fairly expensive option.

The key remote on my coupe is the same as yours with a very short range. It's something I've got used to over 3 years and I'm not sure if it's designed that way or is a fault, I suspect the former.

No stubby for this very reason and doesn't matter where I park. Mentioned this to the dealers salesman during one of our long discussions and he said it was connected in some way to the back windscreen - now he's a salesman and not a technician for a reason so that may be bull....

Salesman is talking rubbish. Some Bimmers use aerials built into the glass (such as my X5 that uses the rear quarter windows for GPS and part of the radio)

PM me an email and I can send you some information on aerial diversity and how the system works along with some hidden menu info.

My remote key works from 50m min to 100m in ideal conditions, so not a design fault, rather a fault on yours.
