Poor acceleration responce

This morning after just leaving the house, so the engine was very cold, i had to floor it to avoid somebody not looking.
The car kind of bogged down, really lumpy power delivery and then the engine light came on.

After stopping and turning the engine off and on again there was no engine light and I calmly drove to work.

What was that all about? Should I be getting something looked at?

Hopefuly nothing. Sounds like you just fooled all the clever electronics and shoved too much fuel into the chamber. On an older car you wouldn't give it a thought if it did that. People expect perfect response all the time these days. Makes me chuckle thinking about how you had to work around the hickups in an old car just a few decades ago. :D

probably the engine/gearbox not at optimal temperature and the car just protecting itself

The car won't bring up a warning light unless there's an issue with the car. To me that sounds a lot like a misfire.

If your spark plugs are close to their replacement interval then just get them changed. Otherwise you would need to scan the codes from the car and work out which cylinder has a misfire then look into moving coils around to see if the fault follows a coil pack.
