I keep hearing this but the skills and knowledge required are very very different.
You don't hurtle along a motorway in your house, wondering if you got all the bolts tight.

Unless he has a motorhome

There is that, yes!
I am the sort that needs to know what I am doing before I do it. I am not the 'suck it and see' or 'hit and hope' type. I need to know what the effort on Y will be if I do X. That is proving very challenging at present because I know nothing about electronics. I could wire your house with my eyes shut but electronics are a different ball game. Everything is interlinked in a car in some way, especially modern cars.

I also hate making mistakes. They tend to be costly, time consuming and annoying.

People have already accused me of over-thinking this project; it's just how I am. I am not comfortable making changes that I don't understand the impact of. So I am trying to understand everything all at once and it's giving me a headache. I will get there with the help of some very knowledgeable people who are very generous with sharing their experience and knowledge.

Enough to mean no turning back!

I’m going to stick my neck out then and say you’ll finish it, if you can build a house you can build a car

So when you buy the remains from him, do I get your Alpine then?

I’m loving the Alpina… I am content :sweetheart:

Found the solution for you Pondrew
Do you have to own a tweed sporting jacket with leather elbow patches to join "Porsche Owners UK"? And I bet everyone's wives are called Lucinda or Caroline!

Good grief Pondrew, I thought it was obvious that we would have to distinguish ourselves from the riffraff

However, the breeding stock of Lucindas and Carolines is rather limited 8)
