polythene control arm bush

I have potential front lower control arm bush wear on an 07 Z4 3.0 si.
I thought it would be a good idea to replace with powerflex or similar poly bush.

It looks like an easy DIY job..any one done these??

I also need to know the size for my car there are x2 on site 60mm or 66 I think. What size bush will I need for 3.0 Si 07?
 
I think they are all the same size on the z4. I did mine last year also replaced the ARB bushes as mine we knackered and and also the drop links. It is a DIY job but getting the old bush out and the new one in is a pain in bum. unless you have a big vice or press. I have/am replacing all the bushes to powerflex but it dose make the ride harder you pick up all the bumps and vibrations through the steering wheel. My car is a weekend toy so its fine if i where clocking up lots of miles and using it every day it might get tiresome.

Quality may be suspect but for £22 if it lasts a few years you are laughing.
 
Yes they will be a very simple swap :thumbsup:

Personally i would go for the first ones. I have used there parts before and never had a problem :thumbsup:
 
time to invest in some axle stands I think after all these years of blocks of wood and dangerous messing about under cars.
 
I'd personally save your money and go for rubber oem bushes.

Most people who rave about poly bushes do so after swapping out their worn rubber bushings, hardly a fair comparison.

Not to mention rubber bushings are a cheaper too.
 
The 66mm FCAB's are the offset bushings used on the Z4M's.

The Powerflex FCAB's and RTAB's will not automatically give you are harder ride. If you think that you do not understand just what those two sets of bushings are doing in relation to the total suspension geometry.. (That’s a hint)

You do have to remove the front suspension reinforcement plate to access the FCAB’s. You are SUPPOSED to have the car sitting on its suspension (full weight) when reattaching the reinforcement plate. The bolts used to attach the plate are a one-time use bolt… if they were torqued properly in the first place then they are stretched and should not be reused.

No not a harder ride as such I stand corrected. But i have them fitted and i am sure they are not as supple and there is a lot more feel some would say vibration (a feeling of a harder ride)

With the state of British roads and the usual poorly kept surface (not pot holes) rough surfacing it can feel quite hard!! And i would imagine would be annoying every day.
 
The previous owner of mine fitted Powerflex ones and personally I think the ride is noticeably harsher than on my previous zed..

Best bet for our crappy roads. I guess its the same bush as for the whole E46 series?
