Polly bush kits + exhaust + oil cooler

Hi,

I have a 2003 Z4 e85 3.0i M54.

I'm looking for some advice on a few parts upgrades. I use the car on the track a fair bit and some general use - it's not a daily driver. I've already added coilovers, bigger brakes, braided lines.

Links to any of the following would be much appreciated:

• Polly bush kit - was wondering if anyone can recommend a good brand and which bushes I should replace?

• Exhaust upgrade from stock. Any recommendations would be great?

• Oil cooler

• ARB's

• Air filter/intake

• Anything else you think I should upgrade to help keep me rubber side down

I wouldn't advise putting Polly's Bush anywhere near your car

Polybushing the rear trailing arm bushes and wishbone lollipop bushes with powerflex bushes is a worthwhile mod, I did this on my si coupe a while back.

I'd fit an oil temp gauge and establish what temps you're getting before getting an oil cooler personally. Mocal or setrab are the best choices but you'd need to establish how high your temps are to really understand how much cooling you need...

Afe I wouldn't bother personally unless it's for a bit more noise. In which case it doesn't matter what you fit, they'll all do the trick!

I've been looking at the Powerflex bushes actually.
Which on this diagram do you suggest I replace?

I used Strongflex (yellow) on the race car.

Items 1 and 3 get the most abuse. Then 17 and 19 for rear alignment stability. 18 is better as a balljoint (not a bush). Then 50 and 25 to keep the drivetrain from turning the corner shortly after you did - if you can handle the NVH on the road. Diminishing returns on the rest (I did them all except 15).

For oil temps, this little thing was useful to understand oil temps https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07BF568WW - it can show oil temp and water temp at the same time. I've done 30+ minute track sessions in summer without exceeding 120ºC oil temp so have not seen the need for an additional oil cooler. But mine is N52 and I don't know anything about the M54 engine.

Relies on compatibility with your ECU and the sensors that it's looking for. I was able to get speed, rpm, water/oil temp. No oil pressure though.

Amazing, thanks for the info. I'll get the recommended bushes ordered! How easy is the temp sensor to install? Looks plug and play but I have no idea where the other end goes!
