Whats this smaller plates you can get away with?? any info about whats legal

I got these as they are legal. Local police have confirmed they are legal too.

So long as you keep the spacing correct, border, correct font, postcode and BS#

...and imho a hideous one a dealer fitted on a previous Jag

Assume your talking about the shape and not the number. In which case the standard plate is far better.

These are the full requirements:

Characters must be 79mm tall
Characters (except the number 1 or letter I) must be 50mm wide
The character stroke (the thickness of the black print) must be 14mm
The space between characters must be 11mm
The space between the age identifier and the random letters must be 33mm
The margins at the top, bottom and side of the plate must be 11mm
Vertical space between the age identifier and the random numbers must be 19mm

They comply with all those requirements, plus the following:

The British Standard number (currently BS AU 145d)
The name, trademark or other way of identifying the manufacturer or supplier

This is what intrigues me about the statement made above.

No idea. Shame that someone posts an 'illegal' comment without any reference to the reason of why.

Regardless of it 3 cars on the drive with identical layout plates for 3-4 years equating to around 10 MOT's, along with a check with a traffic officer at a Jaguar meeting, confirms they are 100% OK

I'd have hated others reading it to be put off smaller plates without good reason

As an aside to this the items the traffic police are seemingly most interested in are fonts and letter size where there is a significant variation from approved and the mis-spacing and use of bolts and the like to make letters or numbers seemingly something else. All to do with ANPR and how pretty much everything is driven by it.

No problem, I clearly appear to have been wrong and I have no problem admitting to that.
Agree with potentially putting others off a small plate - for any looking to do it - go for it ! :evil:

I didn't mean anything offensive with the illegal comment, I genuinely (incorrectly) thought they were.
