You're looking to change jobs and reading the careers section of a company website. There's a section that talks about what it's like to work there and it has a heading. Which would you prefer to read? And please describe why if you care to do so. And if you have strong feelings against one option please describe that reason also.

Cheers :)

Working with us ... implies that you won't be doing all the work yourself. Yes

work for us ... been there , done that. definite No , unless it's as a highly paid contractor then I don't care what you say as long as you can afford me.

Join us... too much like the "team concept" of thinking that has pervaded the workplace. NO - The other team players never seem to pull their own weight, but get paid the same or more.

Join us and.. is the better one because if you're interested in finding out more about the company, you want to see a heading that draws you in and points out the advantages of joining you!

"Working for us" is at least honest and to the point and what I'd expect from a major player. Companies that use either of the other two in my experience tend to sound ever so slightly desperate or small-scale - they are weasly phrases IMHO....and I've worked a lot of places, good and bad, big and small... :)

Fact is you are never going to be 'working with' them or 'joining' them, you will be working for them, so why pretend otherwise???

work for us, at the end of the day thats what you do, your their slave, you will never be 1 of them

Completely agree on all points :)

Working with us: not individual, sense of team

Work for us: dictatorship!

Join us: trying too hard to be "team"!

x2

work with us is much more friendly, welcoming and gives the impression that it is a well run empolyee orientated business

In my opinion, 'Join Us' smacks to me of questionable franchises, or a brewery advertising 'own your own pub' opportunities...

Work 'for us' or 'with us' depends on what the job is. If they are going to be working alongside you, then it's with. If they will be told what to do in any form, its for. Sounds daft but no point recruiting people saying 'work with us' if you want them to work for you IMO. In truth, though, most companies would probably use 'with us' when they actually mean 'for us' in an attempt to appear more 'inclusive'......

Hmmm.

I agree with this ^^

Which is why i have voted for 'Working with us...'

Use the one that most reflects the nature and culture of the company and avoid any weasly language meant to disguise the reality of the company. Whatever you say has to be consistent with the vision, mission, ethics, etc. of the company. Do you really matter and have a voice or just a call centre battery hen.

So if it's a team based flat hierachical structure then perhaps the 'with us'
If it's a typical UK top down model then perhaps 'for us' (and I generalise of course)

I'd also vary it depending on the level and target audience, so for management roles 'with' for front line 'for us' as that's ther reality.

Join us sounds a bit like the Borg.

Work for us is ok, but sounds like a smaller business, almost like the owner has written it with his wife and they are wanting to recruit their first employee.

Work with us sounds like a team and everyone is level and equal, which is best, even if it's not true :)
