POLL: Soundgen mod. Who does what?

So it's diffrent strokes for diffrent folks when it comes to the sound generator mod; some leave it alone, some take out 1 bit of the supression foam, others take out both, and others such as myself thinks it should be even louder perhaps

Thus, what's everyone doing?

Hmm, so its swinging towards a rather conservative 'leave it alone' philosophy.

Where's the option for leave it alone and mod the exhaust. Let's face it the standard exhaust is pretty poor sounding considering there's a 3.0L engine bolted to it!!

I think I have one piece of foam in now. Both bits out was too much.

Rather have that than some cherry bomb fart can annoying my neighbours at 6am.

So tried both removed and was too much. Just have the foam piece furthest from the firewall left in now. Sounds much better. And not too loud in the cabin.

I only voted "leave it alone" because I have a non-standard backbox on mine and prefer to hear that soundtrack - especially on downshifts!

My first one had some foam out which definitely helped, but I prefer what I have now!

All foam removed and airbox modified for extra noise . It's very loud after 5k rpm haha.

Not exactly relevant, but yours does look very low! I'm guessing you try to avoid speed bumps! :lol:

It's not that low, I go thru speedbumps without ever touching them.

I think they got it right with the sound. Taking one bit out was entertaining for a while but did get a bit tiresome and not that nice TBH. I never tried with both bits out but cant image the noise levels.

If I wanted more noise I would have upgrading the exhaust TBF.

There's no right answer as everyone seeks different sound experiences. Be that ICE, exhaust, sound gen, etc.

I think BMW got it right
