Polishing Headlights-

Hi all-I know this has been discussed on here in the past but would AG SRP do the job?-I have heard toothpaste has been used-can you get decent results without buying the special kits? thanks :roll:
 
If you're going to buy a polish for the job get the g3 green bottle from halfords. Tcut isnt strong enough. Srp will do sweet eff all as if has almost no cut.

I've tried SRP by hand and it didn't do much, T cut better but still not great.
 
It took a lot of elbow grease but T-cut made a big difference to mine and as I had a bottle in the garage it didn't cost me anything to try it. Worth a go if you already have some.
 
I recently thought I had wrecked my headlights as I used a solvent then autosol both inside and out (whilst lights were split for clear light conversion). I used the autoglym headlight restorer kit and it is fantastic. Iirc it was about £19 ish but it is worth every penny believe me :thumbsup: I really should have taken some pictures before I did them as they were in a very poor state
 
Hi guys with regard to toothpaste ! It is used in model making to remove scratches from plastic windows etc so I see no reason why it shouldn't work on headlight lenses - just try some on the face of your watch ! (Assuming your watch face is plastic of course ) I just tried it and the watch looks brand new ! I'll wait for warmer weather and give it a go - :D

The toothpaste may have slight cut but I can't imagine it doing anything significant. I seem to remember someone on another forum trying it to no avail. A bottle of strong compound isn't expensive so I'd recommend getting some as you car use it on deep scratches too. Obviously try what you have first but you'll end up needing to buy something unfortunately.
 
What is wrong with the head lights - mine are still like new ???
 
I used this on my MK5 golf, worked a treat. Seriously as good as new.

Old thread I know but - Sim_Simma - Is this Halfords g3 stuff good then? My headlights need attention and possibly want to use it on chrome to remove some degradation.
 
Speak to your friendly garage, masked mine up and machine polished the headlights in situ, took 10 mins. Ace. Elbow grease..zero, total cost..zero. What's not to like?
