Polished / Chrome lug bolts

My black lug bolts are starting to get dinged up and are showing signs of rust. I wanted to replace these with polished / chrome lug bolts that I remember seeing on the LeatherZ site awhile back. However, the site no longer carries the product. I emailed the owner, and he said due to rising costs of the product he is no longer carrying it. I've seen some other sites that just sell chrome lug bolts, but they look cheap compared to what I remember the LeatherZ bolts looking like.

Has anyone found other lug bolts from another supplier that they're satisfied with?

Any information is appreciated. Thanks.

I was looking at those on ebay, but worried about substandard quality.

Got mine from 'e' bay but not with the locking bolts - use a set of McGARD bolts. Thoroughly checked them before fitting and they were well made with a good chrome finish. They have been on for 2 years through two winters with no corrosion. I used copperslip on the threads when fitting to ensure they didn't seize. The alternative is to have a set of originals chromed but not sure how much this would cost.

I'd be very wary of copperslip on lug bolts as it has 2 detrimental effects 1) it changes the effective torque on the bolt as you reduce the effort required to tighten it so can lead to overtightening 2) it can allow the bolts to loosen themselves.

Kdawg - you can almost certainly guarantee bolts on Ebay are from a low quality poor source.
 
Two years ago I removed my old bolts and gave them a dremmel sand. Painted them with black mat spray paint and refitted them. Still look minted now.

Depends on the source...... . As a seperate issue I wonder how many people use a torque wrench to tighten their lug bolts or is it done by guesswork?
 
AlanJ - you could be right. I suspect many just crank them up 'good and tight', but that said suspect Z4 owners might be a little more aware and responsible than average.
 
bought mine off ebay. Gorilla is the brand name. 16 regular lugs, 4 locking lugs for about $50 USD. Chrome. Happy with them, would recommend.

I tried a few online parts catalogs for BMW, but I don't have a part number so the hits weren't all that descriptive. I might take the picture in and see if the parts manager at my local BMW would have any idea. Thanks.
