Police speed checks / Speed Cameras

Seems like the done thing to have a larl rant on here every now and then...

Why are they always (well round here anyway) on big two lane industrial roads well away from any houses/schools/nursing homes etc.

What a waste of time, they'd actually have a bit of respect if they did it in vunerable or dangerous areas that can do some good.

Bellends.

*For the record I've not been caught or anything to cause this, just an update I saw on the barrowpolice twitter - http://www.cumbria.police.uk/news/latest-news/speeding-in-barrow-being-tackled-by-local-police-officers. Of those places given, Rampside Road, Ironworks Road, Michaelson Road and the A590 at Park Road are all big wide open roads near quiet industrial estates and miles from any houses or schools. They could at least give the impression they're doing it for the right reasons.

Hi Ste,

Couldn't agree more. Just got a ticket last week in pretty much the same sort of area. :headbang: Three lanes, at night, only one other vehicle on the road in the distance, and no-one else about at all, except for the guy with the speed 'gun' thingy.

I thought I'd be ticketed on Tuesday 2nd on a dual carriageway between Basingstoke and Reading - again, a road with not much going on near it.

Today is the 19th and I've still had nothing in the post - so think I've been lucky (touch wood)! WOOP!!!

Couldn't agree more.

If they had the odd patrol near schools or town centers and politely pulled people over and told them to watch their speed i'de think better of them.

Those electronic signs that tell you how fast your going are a nice gentle reminder to slow down, they should put more of those about.
