POLICE MP12-C McLaren... Really?

Just found this:

To stop any more negative comments and silly remarks about wasting public money, I borrowed the car from McLaren Birmingham who kindly loaned the car "FREE OF CHARGE" for the AutoSports show at the NEC.
The car was liveried up by Bluelite Graphics and again it was FOC as they use the pictures for their own PR. The car was taken to the show on a trailer and has been returned to the dealer today where it is on display in their showroom for a few weeks.
The car was only used for the AutoSports show as an attraction for the fans who like fast cars and who understand it was not a real police car. I am sorry for those who misunderstand the words "FREE OF CHARGE", but it will never be a real police car and the police have not paid a single penny towards the display at the show.

All officers were volunteers in their spare time as they are all keen motoring enthusiasts. The Metro were wrong to print the last paragraph about the car being used on the road and I hope they will make that clear soon. To read the real story please see;

I would like to think those of you who got the wrong end of the stick after reading the Metro article will now reply with positive remarks please as it should be quite clear there is no “waste of money” involved.

Greatr story! I think PC Angus Nairn is one of the better guys on the TV show but I wouldn't want to get caught by him, he can get very piccy.

PC Nairn was pictured in our local newspaper, the Shropshire Star, when he was loaned an Evora to use.
 
Just as well they don't own one...given the reliability issue of these it could get expensive for the tax payers :lol:
 
I think as an advert - its very effective and its innovative, so hats off

i think they waste far more on the helicopters....

They fly over my house every soddin weekend chasing people nicking lead off of roofs and I cant help thinking giving free lead away would be cheaper
