Pointers/guide for swapping the roof pump/motor for a new unit? (Already located in the boot)

I am giving a friend a hand to change the full roof pump/motor assembly on his z4 tonight (the pump has already been relocated to the boot by myself some time ago) and was just wondering if anyone could give me some pointers as to the "correct method"? Has anyone written a guide for this before? I am mostly interested to know if there is any way to minimize fluid lose from the hydraulic lines and if there are any pointers for topping up the lost fluid/bleeding the system?

Thanks in advance!

to swap the pump and motor complete , already located in the boot it's a doddle . I would remove the power supply, unbolt the bypass cable then Unbolt the two pairs of unions and fit back onto new unit first before reconnecting the bypass cable and electrics to minimise fluid loss . The unions and pipes will only loose a very small amount of you away then off the old unit straight onto the new .

I assume your new unit has fluid in it , if not make sure your fill the resoviour up to the mark shown on the side (+ mark ) and run the up/ down cycle a few times checking the level as you complete each cycle . The pump self bleeds , so after its run up and down a few times check the level it should be fine .
