PM's stay in outbox for a long time?

It could be my incompetence but when I send or reply to PM's they seem to stay in my outbox for a long time?
If anything it seems to be getting worse.
Any help appreciated.

That's rather odd behaviour.

Was wondering the same thing so I've just sent someone a second PM thinking the other one was stuck. Now they'll get two messages.
