Pms and outbox

When you send a PM why is it stuck so long in the Outbox folder? I subscribe to a number of forums and this is the only one that holds up messages for so long.I sent one on Thursday and it still is in the outbox.
Chjecked all the settings but doesnt appear to be a method to alter the delay

:tumbleweed: it stays in the outbox until the other person has read it... the forum isnt delaying it... they're not the royal mail...
 
Liam-O is correct, it being in the outbox is just your way of knowing the message has not been read. When the recipient logs in and reads the message it will disappear from your outbox.
