Plug in tyre compressor recco

Hi all, looking for a recco for a plug-in tyre compressor I can keep in the boot. I’ve read reviews, looked at “best reviews” etc. I’d go with these but quite a few mention blown fuses in older cars! Some come with a spare fuse which seem to suggest this is a real problem.

I’ve got a 2007 E86 3l si, anybody got one of these compressors they’d recommend (that haven’t blown the fuse of the cigarette lighter!).

Ive got small compressors from Ring - about £20. Slim enough to slot in and man enough for the job.
Its a wired job but for the few times its used v Cost its just the ticket.

Ps - its never popped a fuse yet :thumbsup:
 
I bought a Halfords compressor which works off the fag lighter for potential emergency use as I've not got the run flats. spare wheel or a space saver spare wheel.
However, I have used it to re-inflate the tyres on my old Eunos Roadster and dear old Mother's Ford Fiesta Frascati over the last three or four years.
All in all a good piece of kit I would say.

Thanks all, reassuring the ring and Halfords ones have been ok on the fuses, and food for thought on the cordless. Will do some more homework and be less paranoid!
 
Not heard of cordless ones but isn't there a risk that when you come to use it the battery might be flat? Mines from Tesco and its lives behind the passenger seat.

i think the cordless ones come with a connector to the cig lighter just in case its needed
 
I've been using a Ring model for years and its had a lot of use with 4 cars in the house and 3 or 4 motorbikes in the garage at times and is still going strong, Id certainly recommend them

The cordless job does appeal to me tho but I always suspect that when I need it in a hurry the battery will be flat because I’ve ignored it in the boot of the car!

I’ve got a 10cf compressor in the garage and it’s surprising how often it gets used. I vid just used it today to inflate a dozen balloons for my granddaughters birthday party !
 
I bought a Bmw one years ago off ebay. Been used multiple times and never blown a fuse.
Slots in by the side of the battery.

It is a pain to tidy the cable up afterwards so next one will be cordless.
 
I have a cordless but keep it in the house where it is handy to use and charge. In the car I have one that plugs into the fag lighter. It is so easy to just forget about the cordless one. Go out for a run and that's the time you might need it and the battery is flat or you forget to take it with you. I Know you can get the cordless that will charge in the car but how long will that take.

Years ago we bought what I think was the most expensive cordless inflator in the shop. Think it was a Michelin branded one.
It was quite heavy having a battery inside it.
It was great to use and fairly powerful.
Downsides, you have to make sure you recharge it regularly as you want it to be fully charged if you need it.
It only lasted a few years and then the battery wouldnt hold a charge.

£20 or something from the Amazon years ago.

Does what it says on the tin.
