Plug and Play Door Speaker?

So my Zed didn't come with door speakers, nor has it really bothered me, however I'm planning to install power fold mirrors which require a new wiring loom. The one I have sourced seems to have the connector for the door speaker.

Will plugging one in work or are there other parts missing? It's a 2003 prefacelift

I have found those connectors in a couple of cars and thought I could plug straight in, but I was told they only work if you have the ten speaker amp fitted too.
Apparently you can tap off from the tweeters though

Ah that's a shame, must be some wires missing between the head unit and door loom

I believe early cars have all the looms in place, but the speakers are fed from the amp, which you don't have.

Gotcha, given the door speakers can be run via tweeters it seems a real cheapskate move on bmw's part not to put door speakers as standard

I followed this guide for the extra door speakers Aparently you can now 3d print an adapter plate instead of making the extra two mounting holes.

The tweeter gets a full range signal and then has a small passive xover that makes sure only the HF gets to the tweeter. The next mod sould be to get a couple of speakers in the bins behind the seats and a baby sub. But in this car I feel the 3.0 i6 is mostly all of the radio you need unless its a long and boring motorway journey. :)
