So having promised not to spend your money on propaganda Cameron has changed his mind and is spending £9,000,000 of our money putting his view of the EU argument through every letterbox in the land!

The government is an elected body, they have made a decision as an elected body, and they have a right to educate the electorate about their decision - that would be all of us, whether you voted for them or not. The electorate commission has said they have done nothing wrong.

It's only 'propaganda' to those who have made their mind up that the government is wrong, and who presumably believe they are lying. Because that's what propaganda is. To those of us who haven't, it's education.

Rather than getting all upset over a leaflet drop, your time would be better spent helping the exit campaign spread their message IMO.

I would called it biased information and not education

I want a proper for and against discussion from unbiased people, that's never going to happen though

Thing is,it will be just 27million homes, not every UK household will get one,
and the fact they put a cap of 7million £ on the get us out of EU campaign!!

Maybe the electoral commision have said there's nothing illegal

""We don't think the government should have done it, but it's not illegal," a spokeswoman for the Electoral Commission told IBTimes UK"

However the EU seems to have given a different view on the matter previously...

 Probably your best post!

My point being that the people sending out the leaflet do so in contravention of the rules they wish us to remain subservient to.

So not only ironic but somewhat hypocritical don't you thinkl?

The problem is the electoral system where in a lot of areas a vote cast is a waste of paper this applies to all sides of the political divide in my case at the age of 60 and having voted in every election I have never had an mp that represents my views nor probably without proportional representation there will never be. There is also the fact that many elected governments bring in policies that were never in their manifesto. Rant over come the revolution!

I'm with you on this

The money has already been spent and the leaflets get distributed next week - I'm not sure I see the point of the petition?!

The petition states...

We, the petitioners, demand the Government STOPS spending our money on biased campaigning to keep Britain inside the European Union.

Some members of "The government" i.e. Cabinet Ministers / Ministers are opposed to us remaining in the EU, so only part of the government has decided to spend our money to promote their view.

Could it be that Cameron decided to do this now to deflect attention from his family having stashed money overseas and avoided paying tax?
