Please help! Insurance Troubles!

Switch to a new insurance company. We got daft renewal quotes from Direct line this year. Simply searched the interweb for a few nights, then moved all three cars and our house insurance accross to LV. For little more than half the renewal quote. Have a hunt you should find something for better.

Just renewed mine today with Aviva - £5 more than they charged me last year and that's after two new (gen BMW) screens and seals in the last year

If you can, try adding a named driver who's 'mature' with a safe sounding occupation and no claims history, it knocked about 20% off my daughter's policy when she started out.
Who does she know who's mature and safe :poke:

Looks like I set up myself up for that one

Insure it with a parent as the main driver, and be a named driver on that policy.

This is a great idea, the insurance company will gladly take your premium........ then when you've had a smash, just hope they didn't notice the the registered keeper history and insurance declarations about ownership, use etc made previously (all of which are on record and freely shared between ABI companies for fraud detection purposes). There's not a claims investigator in the land that would swallow your claim (on a Z4  ) and your insurance would be voided. Oh and it's an offence to make false declarations as well.

As I said, great idea 8)

I wouldn’t suggest insurance fraud at all, let alone in a public forum!

This is not illegal at all, he said the Z4 is a second car.

As long as the parent is driving the car as well, (more than the person as a named driver) then its fine.

It is fraud if you insure it in a parents name and they don’t drive it at all.

If you insure the car in a parents name, and you are a named driver, you are still covered. The policy price will increase, but probably by a bit less.
(Provided the parent has a clean driving history!)

Also, you can insure a parent as a main driver whilst still being the registered owner and keeper of the vehicle.

That parent won't be able to use their own NCD (assuming they insure another car) Can you insure a car in your name if you're neither keeper nor owner? How would that affect the premium ?Genuine questions..

I am no expert in this by any means, so not qualified to give advice, it was just a suggestion.

Main drivers can split NCD between policies I believe, if they have say nine years NCD, they can put four on one policy and keep five on the other.... at least they could last time I looked into it. Probs a lot of hassle and admin involved.

Admiral at least will also match your NCB if you have multicar. I had 5 years NCB on my daily, added the Z to the policy and they also added the 5 years to it, along with it staying on the daily.

When I first got my Zed Aliance did a mirrored policy and gave me 9 years ncb .
Just had my renewal and the cheeky blighters have increased my policy by 97pence, mind you they are offering me £20 for renewing on line
