I bought my Z at the beginning of March as a slightly beaten up non-runner. I managed to get it all road worthy and it passed an MOT before easter. I ran several insurance quotes through compare the market and was getting quotes for around £750-£800 for the year with Admiral, which I was very happy with. I decided to add the Z as a secondary car to my policy for the last month of my insurance which didn't cost a great deal. My insurance is now due for renewal as of next Saturday and so ive been looking at renewal quotes. However, since I added the car to my policy, admiral and elephant have refused to give me online quotes and after calling them today said the cheapest renewal they could do was £1500 which I was getting quotes £750-£800 previously. If I hadn't of added the Z to my policy and I wasn't a current customer I would have got a very reasonable quote. Does anyone know of a way I can get around this to get my previous quote before they know I was a customer? I've considered waiting for my policy to expire then waiting a few days and trying to get back with them as a new customer but don't know if this would work? I really can't afford to pay £1500 for insurance and I really don't want to loose the Z! Im 20, been driving for almost 3 years and have 1 years no claims. (My first few years were as a named driver but still no claims etc, completely clean record). Would strongly appreciate any help!
