Please help! Crank no start ELM SES 2003 E85

Car all of a sudden won’t start. Need some help diagnosing please!

All of a sudden the car would not start.

I don’t understand why I have a CEL and SES light.

The only code I have is for the intake camshaft sensor signal and now activation.

I have swapped the original intake camshaft sensor with an OEM.

I have checked the fuses. Checked the motor fuse box. Changed the ignition switch. Charged and had my battery checked TWICE at the auto parts shop.

Checked the schrader valve on fuel rail for a good spray of fuel and its fine.

This car is driving &$@$ing crazy. Im about to junk it.

Shouldn’t there be a code or something of WHY the check engine light is on?

Oh I almost forgot I have a code from my OBD 2 that has never showed up on my foxwell.

P2746- Intermediate Shaft speed Sensor B Circuit Range/ Performance

Can’t find much info on it for BMW. My car is a manual transmission.

Also 273C- DME: Thermal Oil Sensor.

Can any of these be causing it?

Yes you can pull out the DME and put it back aghain with no real problems.
It does sound as though that 'may' be your problem if you've eliminated everything else.

You would need to find one that matches part number etc.
When you fit it the car will turn over but not start as the DME and EWS won't agree.
So ideally you need to put in the car VIN, but this is not actually essential. The main thing is to use a bespoke piece of software to untick a box so that the DME doesn't do a check with the EWS. Then it will work.
[ref]Bigwinn[/ref] has this software and I'm sure if you ask him nicely he can explain to you how it works.

Below your post is a button that says 'add files'. Click on that and then browse to find your image.
Once it is loaded in the box you then select 'place in line' and it goes into your post.

Is there anyway to manually reset modules and CEC? Like disconnecting battery and touching positive and negative terminals together?
