Over the years I have had some challenging experiences with IT updates, supposedly made to benefit the user. On occasion this has proved to be irritating and sometimes stressful. I am thinking of changes made, for example, by my bank and also to my Apple equipment. I am sure that there are other forum member who would be able to give such examples too. Bad experiences with anything do tend to colour your judgement.
But I do hold up my hands and admit that increasing age has made me resistant to change. My requirements for this Forum are more than met by the current arrangements. So unless it could be clearly demonstrated in advance, that any changes would be beneficial to all users without adding extra layers and complications I would be reluctant to support them.
However, I do agree that it is important to encourage questions and imho eBrooker has been very reasonable in how he has approached this issue.

You remind me of my time in a bank... I was woking in dividends and the bank was setting up a new system to automate it, so dividends would be automatically allocated to the correct accounts with no need for manual processing. We spent ages testing it, but it didn't work properly, but management still insisted it was implemented.
That is exactly what I am referring to Fred. But I also think it is really important to encourage debate. I am 80 now and truthfully I donโ€™t find it easy to make change. But I do try to keep an open mind. My two granddaughters, both at university, keep me right and soon let me know when my dinosaur mentality rises to the surface. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰

Quoting is now more difficult as the โ€œlikeโ€ is in the way
I think a 'don't like' would possibly get greater use.
Especially if i could set it to auto-reply to Pondrew :poke: :D :D :D

ok, bit of low hanging fruit for you guys this morning... we now have the ability to post youtube videos simply by pasting the url:

We also have reactions available... need to see how that one goes as it was a b**ch to install and my concern is reliability etc.

Splendid

Presumably you haven't noticed the amount of abuse I, quite justifiably, get?

Fixed that for you mate.
It was a 'tongue in cheek' comment TBH. I don't get any abuse and if I did I really couldn't care less.
The old saying of "if you give it you have to be able to take it" is relevant IMO.

I don't own a Z4 (in fact never did legally). I only have one BMW and that is trying it's hardest not to be.

I like this forum because most people have a sense of humour and don't take the 'social media' shite too seriously. I find it fun and understand fully I am not everyone's 'cup of tea'....but that is on purpose. I can be quite 'normal' when I choose; I just choose not to be on here! :P

You did have a 3 Series briefly though.

And personally I think this forum is much more entertaining thanks to members like you!

I have had an F33 (440i), an E92 (Alpina B3), an F31 (didn't like it) and two Z4s (not mine; the wife's) since 2021. I only have a Z3 as it is the 'vehicle' for my project.
Not a BMW fan TBH. I am a fan of this forum, though. You all listen to my nonsense with only a 'roll of the eyes' at worst.
