Ive just tried my DVD player in the car - I can't see a time I would want to sit in the car watching a "film" but you never know. The little bit I saw it looked ok.

I tried to watch master and commander, but it didnt want to get past the top level screen? Its way to cold in my garage to sit ib a cold garage to try and work it out. It could be a read the manual night!

What's that you say?

The DVD unit in our cars have the software to play and process DVD movies? Assuming it's only when the car is not in motion though right?

E89 does for sure....

Mine is programmed to play when driving but its never used for that...guy did it for free at a meet once....

:headbang: (must pay more attention)

...but does the E85/6 play too anyway?

Assume you need to have TV option in the car?

I've only got the prof nav, so assume it won't work on mine?

Mine has no TV function and it seems to work ok!
(once i can get thro the main disk top level menu)

I should say that it seems quite hungry on electrical power - I think it will sap battery power quite quickly.

Not sure what you mean by this top level menu business. I pop in a DVD click play and off it goes?

The screen that shows the menu of the DVD ie PLAY - LANGUAGE _ SUB TITLES -etc I couldnt get to select these options :(

I think I just press select first to get that... you can also use the OPTION button on the controller I think for navigation...

Thanks, I'll give it a bash over the next few days, Its too cold for a codger in the garage at the mo!

Just tried it... you can switch back and forth between dvd menu and dvd control by turning the controller and pressing select. Instructions appear on screen as soon as you turn the controller so you know what mode its in.

I get the idrive/dvd control menu which shows the options - but i refer to the dvd disk's menu (as you get on the tv screen - The DVD controller from you armchair in this instance allows the selection of opions on the disk.

This is the on screen menu I couldnt get past - I only tried one disk as I was getting cold and the car battery was starting to complain _ I had only 11.9v across the terminals so decided to call it a day! Battery is back on a trickle charge now.
