Bing and I were discussing Plato earlier. Got me searching Youtube and found this launch video which i'd not seen before (it's not the Z4M vs Boxster one).
May have been posted previously. If so, apologies but it's worth a repost.

Perhaps a good link for the DIY gear knob removal that some keep asking about :D

Yup, great post - glad you dug this out

Does a good job of demonstrating a few of the differences we discussed between formats too - love the way Plato's is manky the whole way through the piece

So, do you want to listen to a CD through a high end hifi, or a place in the front row at a rock concert next to the speakers ? Nice 8)

Well, that's a disappointment - I saw the title of this thread and I thought that you'd found something in the Socratic Dialogues that supported the idea that knowledge of the \\\M is not empirical and, instead, comes from divine insight - but it turned out to be Jason bloody Plato instead. ?. :x

Nice!

I like the Top Gear review comparing the Boxster to a Gordon Ramsey meal and the M as chewing on a Naga Chilli. My facebook status at the time of buying IMmie was "If all goes according to plan, tomorrow I will be finalising the purchase of a Naga Chilli... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FTcr2IFeg0"

"Forum post of the century award" to Mr Gunn :D

I'd still watch fifth gear over top gear any day, if they could only get Chris Harris on board then Plato, Tiff and Harris would be the petrol head dream team!

Harris is a useful contra-indicator, in that i like and end up buying most of the cars he hates (eg the Z4M which he loathes and derides) and get put to sleep by the cars he enthuses about (135i, etc). Also his monotonous voice puts me to sleep.

Anyway, he's far too busy being worshipped on pistonheads these days

Loathe and deride are strong words. I know he wrote the "tell me I'm wrong" article about the ///MC on PH, but I wouldn't say it came accross that way. More that he didnt think it lived up to it's potential and that the E46 M3 was a more natural choice. Given that many have uprated suspension, fitted strut braces, better tyres and even alterted the OEM wheel geometry to overcome the handling issues then CH probably isnt far off the mark.

I like his videos and agree that he'd be a great addition to the 5th gear line up.

I'd like Harris to avoid being part of 5th Gear and their second rate presenters. I like Drive and I liked Drivers Republic before that. I'd prefer him to concentrate on that and his PH contributions! I don't always agree with him but I usually enjoy watching or reading his work.
