Plastidip

Hello!

My old thread about if I should get a Matte Black wrap was very useful, someone mentioned plastidip in the thread.

Matte Black is very unpopular it seems, but I would love to try it! Plastidip seems so much cheaper than a wrap as well, so if it turns out rubbish I'd have no qualms just peeling it all off.

Has anyone ever plastidipped their car before? Any tips? And anyone know what the best sprayer to use is? Or does anyone have a link to a London based company that can do it? (Can't find any!)

Tom

Srhutch had a thread where some guy did it to his puma... Bought loads of cans and sprayed it himself :o

Dont do matt black, do a colourful one...like lime green or something crazy...its not that cheap either.....buy in bulk from the plastidip site or somewhere.

give it a go and if you dont like it its nothing to peel off. i was wondering about this stuff to see what different colour wheels would look like

I have some of gray stuff on order for my wheels. If i like the look i will have them refurbished the same colour when it starts to look shabby.

Good luck doing the hole car how much will that cost??

A whole car in a matte finish costs about £350 for the materials including a spray gun.
I'll be attempting one in a few weeks in matte white for a friend.

Easy to peel off if you don't like it.
Likewise it's also very easy to come back to a car on the carpark with one panel peeled off ready for you.....

Go for it. Awesome thread here, a guy did his whole E46 in 5 hours with 12 cans of the stuff...

Good luck! :D

Nearly right, it was an MG-F

Don't know how durable it was though.

the problem is ,that palstip looks s**t ,the car will look like covered in rubber and it will be impossible to clean properly .

i've pastidiped my wheels to protect them from salt over the winter , good enough for the wheels ,but i would never put this stuff on my bodywork

There a couple of vids on you tube showing how to do ,it I've seen it advertised a respray from £350 and DIY kit from £250 ish then they put a coat of clear coat over

The finish is pretty good...
