Plastidip help

Hi guys,

I want a few bits done on the car. Like the 2.5i badges. The Z4 badge and lower part of bumper. Attempted doing plastidip on my last car and was a disaster. Anybody know of anyone in Suffolk who does it. Been looking for a month to no avail.

Thanks,

That's disappointing Lanky - I was hoping to do a bit on my Zed - The Youtube videos make it look straightforward - I'm still going to have a go and follow their instruction (once the weather improves a bit)

:driving:

First step is to take the badges off the car.

Plastidip is easy to use and just needs patience.

Spray evenly and do multiple layers every hour for a good finish.

Keep getting it wrong until you get it right but you need grills or badges or whatever you spray off the car as you would do if painting.

Can't go wrong, unless your ?Bing

As avove, thin layers and take your time. If it does go wrong just peel it off.

Forget plasitidip, it'll come off the chrome plating eventually as it can't key in to the chrome surface well enough. Where are you? If you're not too far off - I'm in Wigan, Lancs - you're welcome to drop them off and I'll do them for you. Failing that pm me and I'll let you have my address and you can post them to me (badges - not bumper). Some shots here of mine, I use a vinyl spray which I've found to be quite good so far http://www.dewisant-photography.net/y_ogb_BMW_Z4.htm

I did my cup holder tray in my E46 and it turned out great (and I mess this kind of stuff EVERYTIME) The badges should be no problem at all... As mentioned pull them off and do 3-4 light coats 30 mins apart. The bumper might be a bit trickier. The added benefit is if it doesn't turn out you can peel it off and give it another go... Good luck

Am going to attempt this also when get time and weather improves. Vids do look easy but suppose there pro's and well..... I am not lol

Can I just pull the badges off? not sure how they're fixed

Hair dryer and dental floss is they way to go. Held in place by 1mm double sided sticky tape.

Heat up and then use the floss to cut them off. Just keep the floss away from the paint.
