Plastic Rattle

Hi all
As im new to the Z4 I was wondering do all Z4s rattle inside like plastic dashboard rattle over bumps I know I got some flimsy cup holders but seems more than that. Sorry for the silly question but would like to hear some feedback on other owners.
 
Check that the nuts on the two diagonal braces in the engine bay are tight. They bolt to the fire wall (behind the dash) and can transmit vibration from the suspension if not tight. Might not be this but its a good starting point and a common solution.
 
Also check the panel above the pedals, if this is not fitted and clipped in properly you could be looking for rattles for ever like i did. I found out that this panel keeps nearly all parts tight and rattle free.

This is worth a read as you will get various interior squeaks and rattles depending on the temperature and road surface, but very satisfying when they are all sorted :thumbsup:

From what I have read on the forums throughout the years and experienced myself, almost any interior panel can be a source to rattles and squeaks in these cars. :lol: Once you manage to put a finger on the affected panel and then eliminate the noise with felt tape or silicone grease, a different one occurs.

So far I’ve done A-pillar trims, steering column inferior trim, middle vents, seat pan, roll hoops, panels between roll hoops, wind deflector, and probably something already forgotten. OCD for sure...
 
Must be lucky for once as i don't have any the only one i had was squeaky seats easily solved by moving the seats forward half an inch as they were rubbing on the rear of the cabin noises and rattles can be caused when any interior trim is replaced as they will never sit the same in an older car there are lots of little tricks to sort them i had a rattling parcel shelf in my old Calibra easily solved with some velcro
 
I had for over a year an intermittent rattle/buzz coming from the dash area of my car. I thought it was coming from behind the dash, one day driving to work with it buzzing and rattling away I prodded and poked everything until I found it was coming from behind the A pillar.. I couldn't work out how to remove it so I pulled the rubber door seal back which afforded me a gap to get behind said pillar and poke in sponge.. Yup a bit of a bodge I know.. But it worked... The relief......
I think finding the exact location of the rattle is the key to sorting it out...
