Plasti Dip Front Grill

I've read quite a bit about Plasti Dipping various car parts and decided I'd give it a try on the chrome front grills. I took the grills out and removed the chrome rings for paint then reassembled. So far, so good but I'm not sure how long it will hold up. It was only $7 for the Plasti Dip (vs $50+ for aftermarket black grills) so if it doesn't hold up I'll just peel it off and try something else. I'll try and remember to keep you updated as to how it fares.

Looks good. I painted my grilles on my old E86 with gloss black paint. I used plastic primer, plastic paint and then clear lacquer on top but after a while they did start to chip. Just a case of keeping an eye on them and rubbing down and repainting them should they need it.

Cheaper than the £60 for a set of black ones anyway!!

Interested to see how these will hold up :)

I used Plasti-dip to spray my 3.0i badges black - it's got to be over a year now. Still holding up fine, and looking good.

It looks amazing but I'm still a little sceptical... don't you have dustspots in the paint during the process? Could you use this product for example to create a sun strip on the windshield? Applicatiosn seem endless but I'm not (yet) convinced of the finishing. For larger surfaces I suppose you would need a dustfree room?

too bad it's an audi... better take this one, it's an M3 ;-)
